Hi sparks - we all recognise the pit and the self-medicating and it's a coping strategy. It won't last forever, but maybe you should get some advice from your GP and soem prescription meds which are much better for you....(alcohol is a depressant) and try complex vitamin B supplement....also try to chat to others on their threads to - it's a great support and will help you to feel that you are not so alone...... hugs

Just wondering how you are? Your giving great advice here and SPARKS, you don't want to go down the drinking side I know it's easier said, but listen to my home, your doctor will help in more ways than one. I didn't go there and nor the drink. I isolated myself till I found the courage to join this site. Need a drink? Talk to us. We will help as much as we can, so you won't fall.
Hugs to you both

I can understand how you feel and it's so easy to self medicate to try and block it all out, but a mixture of medication and alcohol isn't the way to go.
You need to fight and you won't do it properly if you are dependant on substances as it increases stress and depression and leaves you with no fight.
As BDC said, this is the time you get disclosure and you start to fight back.

Thank you
Thank you so much Faith.
Following your advise I emailed Gill Rutherford Solicitors, and Saturday night they phoned me to say they will take my case on a legal aid basis.
I now feel I have a fighting chance, I would also like to thank everyone else for there words of encouragement this forum is worth its weight in gold, I will honestly say I had really given up, and I know if it was not for the people on this forum I would not be typing this now.
For the first time in months I feel alive and functional and that is down to you people thank you again.

Well done Sparks!
I'm really sorry to hear about your charges but at least you know what you're facing and I'm really happy to see you react in such a positive way.
Having a decent solicitor makes the world of difference and finding the inner strength to fight it makes it a perfect combination for success.
There may be other times when you'll get so low again, so just remember that as bad as you have been feeling, you've managed to turn yourself around and you'll be able to do it again.
Keep positive.

Hi Sparks
Ive just read your thread. It must be really difficult at the moment, especially with the effect on your partner and children. I know exactly how that feels, although not quite to the extent you are experiencing right now.
Great news re the Solicitor. As Izzy said that is really important and as I found in my case, you rely on your solicitor for the positivity and reassurances that you will need at various times going forward.
Now you have the charges its time to gather everything you can to fight this, for you and your family.
Good luck and keep coming back to the site. It really does help.
