Educational 10 of the Best
Review: These are short, simple number, word and quiz games for different ages.
- Company Count: You have to solve maths sums -addition, subtraction, multiplication and poss division to do, er, something. If you get too many wrong, you are unemployed. I have no idea what that means or what point is, except to get the sums right.
2/5 Age 5-6
- Dozer Disorder: Bill is pushing words into the pit with his digger. He is scrambling them up and you have to get them out in the right order. Uses 4-6 letter simple words like there, their and mother.
Note: You must press the letters firmly, and sometimes will need to press them twice or 3 times, to get it to accept them 4/5 Age 6-7
- Hiss: You are a snake who has to eat the letters required to make up the chosen word, and get to the next level. Very much like the Nokia mobile favourite, snake, but with an educational touch.
5/5 Age 5-8
- Maths Fun: Maths alright, but I'm not so sure where the fun comes in. You can choose addition, subtraction, multiplication or division at different difficulty levels and the computer will give you a series of questions and you get points for how many you get right.
2/5 Age 5-10 depending on difficulty level
- Odd One Out: Note- 2 Player Game: You take it in turns to decide which is the odd one out of a group of 5 items. A good idea as it teaches about categories and groups, but it is not hugely well presented.
3/5 Age 6-7
- Yule Spell: A Christmas hang-man. The word (which will appear in the box at the bottom) is christmas related and each time a letter doesn't appear inthe word, you loose a present, until the tree is bare.
4/5 Age 6
- Crocodile Tears: You have to guess the missing letter in the word. If you get it right, a block behind you disspaears and you get closer to being able to run away from the crocodile. If you get too many worng then the croc gets hungry...
3/5 Age 4-5
- Hungry Harry: Harry works in a shop. He has to give the customers the right amount of change for their purchases so he can get to his mum (at the end of the queue) who has his lunch. Good graphics and well laid out details of who has bought what.
4/5 Age 5-6
- Lemonade Stand: You are running a lemonade stand. You get to decide what you buy, what price you set and where you go (based o weather forecast. Good for teaching about trade and selling. It is not always intuitve what all the columns are for so you may have to play around for a bit.
4/5 Age 10
- Snail Trail: You have to answer general knoiwledge questions about animals. Each correct answer moves you forwards - you must get enogh correct answers to beat whichever animal you are racing.
4/5 Age 5-8
Note: Program info is not a game. It gives a short summary of the games on the disk.
