  • Mail Online expose University Challenge Contestant

A young man charged with sexual offences, to face trial in February 2017 outed by the mail online before facing trial.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...l-assault.html

I am horrified to see this young man who appeared on the last series of University Challenge plastered all over the media before he's even faced a trial. He has denied the charges against him, and now has to face the trial by media and the humiliation of a 9 month wait for it to go to court. Well done Daily Mail

That is terrible , I cannot believe they are actually legally allowed to do that , would it not be classed as being an unfair trial now ? . Also to name his family members the whole thing stinks .

I agree KB19 & RF, it is an absolute disgrace to name the family and where they live!

We hit the local press too. Son got verbal abuse while out , and I think some physical abuse which he under played to me.

He had been a popular lad and if the identity of his FA had been made public I'm pretty sure that people who knew them both would have judged him as honest and her as a manipulative liar.

I can't see how it is in the public interest for defendants and families to be stigmatised and shamed BEFORE a guilty verdict is reached. I am also, quite honestly getting to the end of my tether with " most allegations of rape are true". Where is the actual evidence of that?

Years back I would have been more worried raising daughters than sons, but now I really wonder whether men and boys are the victimised within our society.

I wish that every time a case was NFA'd or went to trial and got NG, anonymised details were put in the public domain so that the general public could see the farce that is going on day in day out.
