Case going to trial

I posted here on the 4th Dec 03 re : stranger rape
The case I have recently found out is going to trial and I am left completely in the dark about everything. I only even found out the date from a member of my family who was advised by CID. Am I entitled to know nothing? Or who could offer any advice. Apart from being raped this is another ordeal heaped on top. I have been to counselling and a psychiatrist I saw was worse than useless, prescribing Zispin. I'm not mad, just scared and in limbo. Please help!

As I don?t know the ins and outs of your case surly there is a officer working with you, or if you are in the UK, you can be referred onto victim support who will help to guide you through the process and attend court with you? What about asking the officer in charge of your case what is going on, and surely if you are being left in the dark and are the main witness (as it happened to you) surely the police should be treating you with some respect? Have you considered putting in an official complaint? What about your solicitor? There is a citizens advice bureau office open in most areas of the UK look in your local yellow pages for your nearest one, failing all with the medical side of things have you considered asking your GP for a referral to a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinic, and have you had a proper psychiatric assessment to see if you are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress. If you are suffering from this you are also entitled to Criminal Compensation for any time you take off work due to emotional stress and shock. I know things seem really bad at the moment, but unfortunately to get anything you have to play by the system at the moment, go back and demand the proper help both legally and medically that you are entitled to, you are the victim of a crime here, sometimes people need a little reminding, good luck and don?t give up, because at the end of the day that?s what the person who did this to you wants, don?t let that happen.
