Why i couldnt report my rape and took justice into my own hands.

I was raped in 1996, by someone that had stalked and obsessed over me for years, i was only 16. In my POST RAPE STATE, i thought about reporting it to the police, i couldnt though cos at the time perpertrators could cross examine their victims in court, also he was just having a baby with his girlfriend and the jury would look at the nice family unit and then me on my own in the court, who would you believe? i wasnt badly hurt in the attack i didnt need stitches internally, like some so i felt i had no proof if anything all they could of proved was that we had sex, but how do you prove non consensual sex? I attacked my attacker. I now know it was wrong but i was bewildered naive and frightened 16 year old that was homeless and had just been raped didnt know what she was doing. I now work with the police to try and get them to treat victims better and to tell them what to expect. I'm also in the process of going into schools to help speak with teens about what to do and what not to do if you are raped. I'm doing this with the support of the police who are in the process of setting up a new unit to try and get more women to report this crime i also have a group site if you would like to see the full story.
