Hi everyone, I'll try to get straight to the point and hopefully someone can help me out.
I've been asked to attend the police station tomorrow to be charged. I urgently need to details of a good solicitor in the North West. I'm aware of Chris Saltrese through reading these forums but expect that the services of his practice will be too expensive for me. I'm doubtful I'll qualify for legal aid and whilst I'm not trying to cut corners I ultimately cannot afford the best of the best.
A good friend of mine has an Uncle who works as a Barrister at St. John's Buildings in Manchester. He has recommended a solicitor at Platt Halpern also in Manchester however I do not know if they are most suitable.
To summarise my situation, I attend a voluntary interview with the police in January and employed the services of Mary Monson Solicitors to assist...I wish I hadn't! Essentially I had a drunken one night stand with a junior work colleague at a Christmas party. I'm a married man and she has a boyfriend and in the morning we were both very regretful about what had happened. We had a fairly lengthy chat in the morning about the night before and part way through she suddenly started to say she couldn't remember anything and asking how I had got in her room!?! The whole experience was so surreal. It was as though the whole thing had been pre-planned.
We spoke a couple of times on the phone later that morning and she stated on a number of occasions that she didn't want anyone to find out. She promptly goes home and apparently tells her boyfriend and mother that she awoke to find me in her hotel room with no recollection of anything of the night. Fast forward a few days and I'm suspended from work, sacked a few weeks later and then subsequently interviewed by the police.
As far as I am aware she has told the police she was too drunk to consent to anything and I have somehow let myself in her hotel room and raped her. This is essentially what she has told work but can't remember anything. CCTV from hotel shows her letting me in her room but in my ex employers opinion 'on the balance of probability' she was too drunk to consent and they sacked me. This is despite the fact she had asked me back to her room a number of times and literally pounced on me when she let me in the room. They have ignored everything I have told them and sided with her despite me being the only one who can give a clear indication of what happened in the bedroom.
There is a lot more to the above and I'll go into more detail in a future post but right now I desperately need a good solicitor and barrister.
Many Thanks
