My husband has been accussed of rape this is from 20 year s ago he lodged with a family who had a 13 year old daughter, we were dating at the time the girl was strange and the mum and joked that she had a crush on my husband.
20 years later she's making these allegations, it first started in October 2015 and at the end of august last year' came back with NFC.
A month after this the girl post s on Facebook pics of my husband and other men she also accussed.
This was deeply distressing and took 1000 quid to have it removed, 2 wks ago the police contacted my husband and told him he was being prosecuted, complete shock followed why?? The policeman said nothing had been added to the case because we were thinking who had she got to lie for her .

So scared now my husband is innocent he has no previous conviction of this nature,the girl rants on Facebook on how hard he life has been saying her physicallyabused her also ,we were told by police that the case was complicated because she had made allergations against other men one of which appears to be an ex husband

Hi, I'm really sorry to read this but it is an all too familiar tale involving an unstable girl.

My first piece of advice is try not to panic, there is plenty of hope for the right outcome. My second and most important, is that you instruct a good solicitor, there is a thread of recommended sols if you want to wade through it but it is easier if you post the rough area of where the trial is likely to be held and wait for Rightsfighter, she is a star.

I am hoping that you have kept all the evidence of the social media postings and trouble she has caused so far and I recommend that you try and snoop and take screenshots of anything she posts in the future that might help. Some FA just can't help but running their mouths off on their facebook and such characters rarely make a good witness.

It is a good idea to begin a timeline and write down everything your husband can remember about the girl and his time in that house. The more information you can give to a solicitor the better.

Why did you have to pay £1K to have the information removed? It should be free, I believe.

Facebook wouldn't remove post had to pay civil solicitor to carry out the necessary actions yes have screenshots solicitor has them

Maybe you just needed the help of somebody who could put the arguments properly. It should not have cost you a penny to do that. Anyway that is now bye the bye.

Make sure your defence solicitor have those screenshots - they might be useful.

He does just waiting for summons now we just cannot believe it gets to this scared for my family l know it becomes public, friends and family are supportive of my oh . There's seem so much support for the so called victim but nothing for us our lives have been affected badly we feel vulnerable and don't trust the police or our justice system

Welcome, Bam bam. You'll get lots of good advice and support here though I'm sorry that you need it. As said above, this is a forum that anyone can see but with a username and being careful that you don't name names or identify your location closer than a county or big city, this is a great place to be. Each kind of site has its purpose.

From my experience there is no logic in this whole situation. My advice is to expect no logic. The only time that the complainant is challenged is at court. My experience is that the Police only interview people that support the complainant. It is a shocking state of affairs. What is important is supportive family and friends. It is also important to undertake your own detective work via social media. It was social media posts that the jury seemed to show interest in. My strong advice is do not trust the police. It is also extremely important that family try to keep themselves as sane as possible in an insane situation. I found mindfulness great. I would recommend Headspace and the teachings of Ajahn Brahm a buddhist monk on YT a godsend. When listening to Ajahn Brahm he seems a bit boring for the first ten minutes but once he warms up his teachings are so comforting.

Yes, they can give evidence behind a screen or via video link if they do not wish to be in the courtroom.

Yes that's correct my Accuser was behind a screen too , only the jury and judge could see her, in the case of Genuine victims of sexual crimes this can be very helpful, however I believe from September this year the law has changed and the Accuser(or victim) will not have to be cross examined live in the court room meaning the cross examination will be pre recorded and then played in front of the jury.
