I am in desperate need of some advice, I have been with my partner for ten years we have four small children together. This week two police officers turned up wanting to speak with my partner. He has been accused of sexual assault that supposedly happened 15 years ago by a girl who would have been 13 at the time of the alleged assault. I am completely reeling, can't eat or sleep. He has to attend the police station in the morning to undergo an interview under caution. What will happen next? Any advice would be great

Your partner MUST have legal representation in the morning. It may be a little late to find someone that specialises in sexual allegations but they happen so often these days the duty solicitor at the police station should be plenty experienced enough.
What will happen in the morning is the police will disclose details of the allegation to the solicitor who will then speak to your partner before he is interviewed.
He has the right to give a "no comment" interview and the solicitor may advise this, depending on the details of the case, but it is far better to cooperate with the investigation. The whole thing should take no more than an hour but he may have to wait around for the duty solicitor.
As it is a voluntary interview he will have the right to leave at any time, but after it is over he will be allowed to leave.
You can then expect several weeks to several months of "limbo" while the police investigate and decide what to do.
