There are few things which I didn't know when I was dealing with my case.

    - Choose a good solicitor but barrister must have to be a specialist in Sex cases.

    - Always choose a female barrister when you are dealing with female complainant. Because a female barrister can ask deep questions from a female complainant but male barrister might not ask them kind of questions.

    - Prepare your own defence, dont just rely on a barrister. On legal aid, barristers don't really start working on the case till the last moment.

    - Gather as much character witnesses as possible who willing to come and give oral evidence. Becuase in these kind of cases where there is no evidence, Character statments and evidence works. Because jury need to know, you are a good person and can't do such a thing.

    - Just saying you are inncoent doesn't work in court anymore, if the girl the complainant started crying then jury will take her place so gather as much as evidence possible that can prove she is lieing. prosecution will tell the jury, she is inocent, young and a child etc, Why would she lie? -- You will have to find a answer for this.

regarding SO unit. in prison, its quite. sex offenders normally be protected from other units. sex offenders often get called vulernable prisoners (VP). you can do all sort of education there for example, Distance learning courses and even open university. there are workshops where you can go and work. the wage is in pounds. food is not too good but u can cook yourself. some prison have toasters and microwaves. people in SO unit are quite and no one really ask what you in for.

i was innocent but got found guilty. my words against her. i didn't have anyone explaining me what to do and that but atlest a lot of people here who can guide you. I am still fighting for my case and will forever.

    hope this helps
    Good Afternoon Released Prisoner

Sorry to hear you got convicted and served time for lies from FA
Can I ask who was it that accused you and how long did you serve sorry to intrude and bring up again

I'm asking as I've been accused of my ex girlfriend and I'm due to go to trial in February 2017

She has 2 friends who she supposedly told back in 2013 neither can remember the dates and all have got rid of there phones to back up text messages she supposedly sent to them

I think this will come down to my word against hers, I can't believe the lies this woman has said accused me of every crime you can think, fraud, theft, firearms, rape the cps are only taking the rape through they no she is lying as she lied over a mobile phone bill and cash theft to get the police round, the rape wasnt even mentioned until the police started asking questions

I just hope when the jury hears this they find me NG

Can I ask you why it's better to have a female barrister as you mentioned this and what else would you suggest I do upto and on the time of trial

Who was your barrister at the time ?

      so sorry to hear that.

try to gather as much as evidence as possible.

the evidence of her lying about theft etc, if it has been papered than get that as well, police will only her.
think so reason why would she lie and make all that up.

get evidence of any previous good messages or texts etc which shows you was good with her.
your friends who have known you and her as good couple, bring them to court.
whatever you did for her, get that as a evidence.

prove yourself that you can't do such a rape thing.

on first day of trail, pressurized your barrister to put addmission in saying there is no case to answer as prosecution havn't got any evidence.

In the trial still goes on, once prosecution rest their case, ask your barrister again to submit half way submission of no case to answer. (only if there is no evidence at all)

i guess you are taking legal aid so barrister and solicitor will not work too much to gether more evidence like her previous character and that so that is your job to get that.

bring character witnesses as much as you can and if possilbe, take your family with you in court to support you because it will give jury a good impression. you have to win jury.

female barristers can ask very sexual and personal questions from complainant but male barristers usually don't go too deep and in some case, judge actually stop them asking questions.

my barrister was a male barrister and prosecution barrister was female. I wish i had a female barrister.
if you have any more questions, do not hesitate to write. there are many people here who can guide you.

I'm so sorry to hear that you were wrongly convicted. Much has changed over the last few years, most of it not good but I'm hopeful that some positive changes are in the pipeline. Please do keep fighting. Do you have family support? A plan? Legal assistance? I understand that thise protesting their innocence throughout can be given a hard time by the authorities, so I hope things aren't too grim for you right now.

Thank you for being here and helping where you can. You are so right - just saying that you are innocent isn't enough. People do need to understand that they can and must say more, no matter how frightened they are.
yes i do have a very strong family support and I am still fighting for my case.

judge normally tell the jury not to speculate and go on internet etc, but jury arnt saint. Not all, but some might go on net to search what is rape or sexual assult cases are and normally on internet, only those who got found guilty. so biggest thing, to get jury on your side by showing yourself that you can't do such a horrible thing. this is out of your character and why the complainant is lying.

in prison, they dont like it when you maintain your innocence, they keep your risk high because you are not doing offending behaviour courses etc. Its a struggle but cant walk away when you right into it.

          Thanks for all your replies

Why would she lie I saw asked a few times? All I have is she has issues with me as I cheated on her mum at start of our relationship plus I didn't approve of her boy friend as she was 16-17 he was 14 but she told police I was jealous of there relationship.

I want to fight just looking at all options as I'd live not to be old and die in prison.

She has clear motive to lie - and let's be honest, most teenagers have gripes with their parents/step-parents/mum or dad's boyfriend at one time or another. What she says and how she acts are two different things and saying you were jealous of her doesn't make it so. There's a lot for your legal team to go in here.

Just one other thing - the gender of your barrister is a personal thing. Some people set a lot if store on their own experiences or preferences, as well they should, but please just be aware that there are people here who were very happy with their make barrister as well as those who though a female one did them better. I'm just suggesting that you keep an open mind and don't choose in gender alone. Your solicitor will explain their choice/suggestion if you ask them too, so you're not choosing blindfold as it were.

King Cobra, My OH is going through similar,(30 year ago "alleged" historic offence allegation against ex step son )

Try to remain strong and don't let seemingly severe anxiety/depression get the better of you.Apart from perhaps a lesser sentence why serve any time for a crime you did not do???

You mention you have no defence ? do you mean support to maintain your innocence? I think you have to be innovative with this...

My OH has been accused of living somewhere he was not by FA,so he has his work references, land registry records etc.In your case perhaps you could have counselling then the councillor I think could be your defence, a close friend could provide a character references etc
So please don't crave into the pressure the police might be putting you under, just so that they can maintain their conviction rates
There are many reasons why the FA will lie, never forgetting the huge compensation, the FA will get if there is a charge....

Can only echo what others are saying- DO NOT plead guilty if you are not!!

Try nad recall any particular arguments you may have had, write a timeline of anything significant.
What's her mum's stance in all this?

Hi King Cobra, surely this is a huge positive in your position?
Why would she lie? A question I will no doubt be asked in my fourtcoming trial!
Why not? People lie all the time!!!

I personally don't know why my accuser has made these allegations against me?
I do however know she is quite clearly unbalanced....and I have a number of cards up my sleeve so to speak!

Do NOT plead guilty....let her face the music in court if that's how it as to be!

I wish you all the best, and keep posting : )
