I am going to be arrested/questioned for sexual assault, is it the same as rape?

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately I am here in this dark place, So a few days ago I got a call from my solicitor who said the officer who is dealing with my harassment case in regards to my ex partner (falsely alleging harassment) now wants to question/arrest me for sexual assault in which I am assuming is in regards to my ex partner. Essentially, what I want to know is sexual assault the same as rape?

I have no information about the case but my solicitor is stating the officer will be in touch now to arrange a time to come in.

I am very worried and anxious as I am aware of individuals who have gone to prison for 7 plus years for false rape allegations. I have a child with my ex and all of this is lies in order so I cannot see my son.

Sexual assault (at this "investigation" stage) can be anything from a touch to rape. Obviously when it comes to charges and counts on the indictment, sexual assault means an assault that is sexual - obviously different from rape.

You will need to ask your solicitor should be given some sort of disclosure just prior to the interview, so you will know more then.
