That's a fantastic attitude to have, I'm sure if it's been NFA'd in the past a jury will see through it.

How are your family taking it?

I hope you don't mind me asking but did you have to push the CPS for a decision or did you get the phone call out the blue ? xx

Could you arrange a chat with your solicitor to discuss things in further detail? I'm sure somebody on another group said it wasn't in the media as their last name was too unusual- not too sure how they managed it though. Maybe sol could request no media as you have young children?

I'm not sure if they can stop FA selling their story to the sh*tty take a break style mags, but they don't mention names.

Quick question for anybody in the know??
I get charged tomorrow, so ive not had any paperwork or disclosure etc

But when do i need to get statements off people?
2 main ones are family members, who the FA had basically said they were aware of the abuse, and one even caught me! (Both these were utter rubbish statements and were told so to the police when the said persons were asked the question!)

Any help would be really helpful!
                Cheers

                  Hi Aidy
So sorry to hear the news.
                  Keep strong!

I think if the police have even bothered to take statements from these ones (they probably haven't) then their statements may be in what's called the "unused" pile.
This won't be made available until during the lead up to trial.
Your solicitor will get bits and bobs of info leading up to the trial and will see what statements need to be gathered in defence.
It will be slow and often your solicitor will have to make several requests before the information is forthcoming.
A good solicitor will know what's going on and will get these in place.
They must be prepared to attend court in your defence and be cross examined.
That's when your side of the story comes out.
                  Stay strong

Speak to potential witnesses (character as well as material) and ask them to write in their own words why they think they can help. the "statement" should have their full names, address, telephone numbers, email addresses etc.

Should be written in small paragraphs making their points separately in each paragraph.

It helps if they have known you a long time and also if they are "reliable and credible" as in possibly having had jobs for eons, upstanding members of the community etc.

Once you have those, hand COPIES to the solicitor and ask him to interview each one. The info they give in their rough statements should assist the solicitor with what questions to ask when he makes a more formal statement for them to sign.

Just been officially charged at the police station!

Really odd, the female police officer was almost apologetic that I had been charged??
She said all cases like this are being put through by the cps etc
Just found her coming across as really over nice and cringey!
Dont get me wrong, I was polite and well mannerd as i always am, but I just felt a little confused??

Probably playing mind games with me!!

Anyway going to get in to the docs sometime next week and speak to him!
Also going to give work a miss for a short while, as I really don't feel emotionally strong enough

                        Sending a hug.

I live in the hope that there are some reasonable police officers out there who understand what's going on, even if they can't do anything about it. It's interesting that she said that all cases are going to charge. That's rather depressing. And pointless. Does the CPS have money to burn on trials that are doomed from the start? I know you can't answer that!

It's good to hear that you are going to be taking care of yourself. I don't know how supportive your work is being but a little time to yourself to get your head straight for the task ahead is probably a good thing.

                          Hi

It must have been a very traumatic day for you, hope the police are on your side and not just trying to lull you into a false sense of security. I think you do right to take some time off work, be kind to yourself. Take support from others when it's offered, keep your chin up.

Yeah been a very traumatic day indeed!!!
I don't know, she genuinely seemed to come across as sincere?
I did tell her I basically didn't trust her though in the circumstances, and she seemed to understand!
Tbh it was all done very amicably and I found it all very strange!

                              Hi
They was also nice to my son when he was charged. Each time he was bailed we led to believe he wouldn't be charged. The investigating officer said he wouldn't of took it but it was cps. After him being acquitted last week, it was obvious it should not of even gone to court and I do wonder why it did these are educated people making these decisions. What a waste of tax payers money, not to mention the he'll we went through. Good luck with your fight and I truly hope you come out the other side like we did. Stay strong x

I was charged in march and nearly ended my life. I wish I could set out the full facts on here but its too risky but essentially I was the victim of a robbery and this was their cover story. don't panic, being charged does not mean a trial guaranteed. we are fighting hard as so much evidence on my side and when you have initial disclosure you can make representations too, the cps are under a continuing obligation to review.
