Help, anyone..?

Hello all,
I am a relative of a someone who has been falsely accused.. It's all very recent and I need some advice, please as don't know what to do.. We've never had to deal with anything like that before. I've read the page on general advice and some other threads (red scouse's case included- how sad), which have been really useful.. I've just seen someone's post mentioning recommended solicitors' list or something (I lost it, I don't know how). Where do I find that? Also, and please don't get me wrong when I ask this, I don't suppose anyone can think of any reliable polish solicitors maybe? (I'm NOT stating polish solicitors are any better, it's about trying to save money on interpreters as we're not that well off!)
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Can you say approximately where you are so people can advise better?
Just the area, don't be too specific as this is a public forum!!!

Would it be legal aid or privately funded?

I am not aware of any Polish solicitors specifically, but Simeone else might come along.

Well- all happened in north east but we live in east anglia area so I'm guessing we'd need someone close to where we live..?? As to whether it's legal or private--no idea! I don't really know what would be the difference (apart from private would be pricey?)? I'm completely green when it comes to this kind of things! Sorry..

Just realised a mistake; it was north west, not north east...

If the offence was alleged to have occurred in the north west and if it gets as far as a trial this will take in the nearest crown court in the area.

It is unlikely that a local (i.e. in East Anglia) solicitor will travel as far as that on legal aid fees and if you were paying privately you would be paying their travel and accommodations fees as well as legal fees, so it would best to look for representation in the crown court area up there (but do bear in mind you don't really need anyone more than the duty solicitor unless he is charged with the offence)

If there is a trial do you know which town or city it would be in? Just so I can see if I can find polish speaking solicitors in that area, who specialise in false allegations.

RF: it hasn't gotten as far as trial date and I've no idea which city it happened in exactly. (It's all very fresh.. He's in bits and not talking much so I'm not even asking him any questions right now not to upset him further.) All I know so far is that he's been released on police(?) bail and has to go back in a couple of months for further questioning. I'll probably know more by then, but since I know nothing about how legal systems work I figured I shouldn't waste any time..

What makes you think he will be brought in for further questioning? It could be just to "return bail" - to go back to check if there is any update etc. and prove he is still here.....

If it does go to trial and he is eligible for legal aid he should be able to get LA for an interpreter too

It's what he told me, but of course you might just as well be right.. Would he be likely to get his belonging back at that point? His phone and clothes? Regards to the interpreter-I did hope that might be the case. Thank you, RF.

I doubt he would get his stuff back so quickly if it is to be a NFA. It's all a waiting game..... sadly.....
