Can someone explain legal aid to me. Son's not working at present. Not been charged but I'm looking at our options in case he does get charged. Thanks guys

This is dodging the question a bit but his solicitor (if he needs one) will apply for legal aid on his behalf and he may need to contribute a proportion of the cost.

If you are wondering about the actual sum and have the patience to work through the figures there is a calculator in this link (it is really meant for solicitors but there is no reason why he can't use it to get an estimate )

If your son is claiming JSA it would seem that he is eligible.
