  • A question regarding the Police seizing phones/computers

Hey guys, hope everyone is ok?
A thought just came through my mind, why do some people have their phones/computers etc taken by the police, and others (like myself) dont??

I have a phone, an iPad, laptop etc
The police would find no dodgy stuff on them...well maybe a bit of porn on my phone lol but nothing on the family computers!!

So yeah just wondering why some do and some dont?
Is it to do with certain types of cases maybe?

Hi in OH case which was historic. No arrest and no seizure of any phones ipads computers etc. at trial this was criticised by our barrister as the Police did not do any real investigating to,prove or disprove, they would of found nothing but you would expect that to be a normal, part of any abuse investigation as even if historic it would be relevant what sorts of sites etc material might be on computers. They must dont want tomdo anything that may help the falsely accused thats my feeling

I suppose it's a judgement call on their part whether the effort (in time and cost to them!) is likely to help their investigation; they won't bother if it is going to prove innocence, that's down to the defence.

If the accusation is made by someone who was a minor (i.e. underage) at the time of the allegation computers will often be seized to establish if the accused has an 'interest' in such things (and this could lead to a separate or additional charge if anything incriminating is found)
