  • Help in this situation

    Hi all,

sorry I do not usually post on these things but just wanted to share my experience.

I was recently in the wrong place and wrong time and had nowhere to go and nowhere to turn - I first started trawling through the internet for Legal Help etc. Eventually after making a few calls I stumbled across a chap called Alfie at 25 Bedford Row Chambers. He found me solicitors to attend my next police station, he got me solicitors for my trial and got me a good barrister who represented me at trial. I am now an innocent man and have to thank Alfie a great deal for that. Hopefully he can help you guys too.
    thank you and god bless.

    Ian

Hello Ian and welcome to the forum,

Thanks for posting your 'good news' story, these are always welcome as encouragement for those members still going through the process.

I'm assuming Alfie works in the legal profession and therefore has contacts who he can recommend?

What would be useful to know would be if he charges clients an introductory fee and if the solicitors he recommends will work on legal aid cases and are they experienced in defending sexual offence accusations.

Referral fees are illegal. I am concerned that now that you have posted his email address on here, he will be overwhelmed with emails from dozens of people who have not yet been charged. He probably won't need all that extra work on top of his usual ...... just a thought......

        Hello,

I was on legal aid yes so presume that he undertake works no matter how paid.

I was given the choice of a few barristers all of which had done this type of case before, I did not pay any monies to barrister or solicitors.

In terms of my solicitors again he asked where I lived and I explained the case and he found me a good solicitor near me who contacted me straight away,

I only posted his email address as he said to me if I ever needed help or know people who do to contact him so thought I could helps some people who were in same difficult place as I was.

        bless,

        Ian

In view of RF's remarks perhaps you ought to check with him if he wants his email put up on here.

If the answer is yes, perhaps you would like to post it in this section of the forum:

If no, I would be happy to edit it out of your post!

Have edited email address out of your OP & will leave it to you to repost if appropriate.

In the meantime if anyone is anxious to get in touch with Alfie they could perhaps email you (via email address on your profile page) and you could forward it on.

Thanks for your help over this, one of the more frequent queries on the forum is with regard to getting a good solicitor on board.

Barristers clerks aren't employed to signpost people to solicitors of course. They are their own work. he may well have been helpful and said "yes it's ok to give my email to anyone" but weeks or months down the line he may well be regretting being so helpful.

Barristers who work under "direct access" can work directly with the client but this service is not available under legal aid, so to contact them direct to ask for advice on LA sols and/or barristers is not really what they are there for.
