To make a complaint against a solicitor you first have to exhaust their own complaints procedures. The next step after that is the Legal Ombudsman.

You have to give the solicitors notice that you intend to make a complaint. You then ask for the "complaints forms" and procedure for that firm.

If you do not get satisfaction you then contact the legal ombudsman - you can do this online.

They will then refer the complaint to the BSB (Bar Standards Board). If you try to short cut it, you are more likely to fail.

FROM THE BAR STANDARDS BOARD. https://www.barstandardsboard.org.uk...you/#complaint

    2. What should I do if I am not happy with the response I receive from my barrister, the chambers or the authorised body?

If you are not satisfied with the response you receive either from the barrister, their Chambers or the authorised body, you should contact the Legal Ombudsman. Please note that the Legal Ombudsman will not normally look at a complaint unless you have first made a complaint to the barrister, the chambers or the authorised body.

Do not tell your solicitor you are going to make a complaint

Do not tell your solicitor you are going to make a complaint until you have read the case files! Otherwise he will remove relevant case material that you need. You have to recognise these people are psychopaths. Once we identify how your son was stitched up we can then make the complaint.

With regards to the complaint against a barrister, that is a bit odd, as a member here contacted the Legal Ombudsman and it was they who contacted the BSB which set the complaint in motion.

With regards to obtaining the trial paperwork; some sols will not send to a home address, not even to the client's family should the client be in prison.

Appeal solicitors are often left waiting for months, literally for paperwork to be transferred to them.

I had to contact the SRA in one case as the sols had gone into liquidation and eventually I got the paperwork via another solicitor, as the SRA would not send to me direct as I work from home.

Even if sols remove paperwork prior to sending it to a client/client's family, there would be copies via the CPS or convicting crown courts.

With regards to Shah's son, I have spoken with her today and have agreed to take it on myself. Your input will not be necessary.
