  • General question re:interview & the SS??

Sorry for starting another thread, but I just felt it was easier than adding to my previous post!

So tomorrow, I have been invited in for an interview at the police station.
I spoke to the OIC last week, and she said I would be put under arrest whilst they questioned me...but that I wouldn't be kept in and that I would be bailed!

Now I'm not sure if she said bailed with conditions?
And she definitely mentioned that she knew I had 2 children etc

So my question is, how likely is it that I will have restricted, or even worse no contact with my kids?
Is it up to the police to decide this, or is it a matter for the SS??

I must say the thought of not being able to look after my own kids sickens me!!!

Any advice once again much appreciated!

Taking the solicitor (well their police station rep) in with me (who was recommended by Chris Saltrese!) as I did the last time I was there!

I have the same questions if DP was arrested or charged the idea of not being a family has made me a sobbing wreck for the last week. All i can do is offer a massive virtual hug and let you know i truely am thinking of you!! Maybe asking sol what you can expect? Xx

Like I said, the OIC said I wouldn't be charged, and so I would be bailed!
However I really don't understand what all this means??

I'm assuming being bailed is whilst they make a decision weather to charge you or take nfa?

I just wanted to know who makes the decision to involve the SS?

**my solicitor is away, and not back till tomorrow!
So they are calling me 1st thing to discuss, not ideal, but what can I do.

Depends on whether the allegations relate to offences against children. SS are usually contacted by the police if there are child safeguarding issues.

Bail conditions usually relate to not talking to "the other side" and sometimes staying away from certain areas where the prosecution witnesses live.

If the allegations relate to (alleged) child abuse then there is usually a condition that either the dp cannot stay overnight in a household where there are persons under the age of 18 or 16 years, or that there must be a nominated "supervisor" who could be a family member.

yes the allegations were by a child!!!

Really hoping it doesn't come to this, but I guess it's looking like the SS will be involved at some stage?!

Saying that, the police said the SS would have to visit the last time I was at the police station...but they never contacted or visited us??

Hi, hope all, goes well tomorrow, just from OH experience, he recieved a phonecall inviting him in to discuss false historic allegation. Same scenario as you horrified etc. He was not arrested at police station just questioned, advised not to contact person who had made false allegation. The following day SS came to our home to interview and make enquiries. I think it very much depends on the area and police force you are involved with. Try not to worry Im sure your solicitor will, advise you
Recently got NG so keep strong and you will come through

Yes, being arrested and bailed is the norm in order for them to start an investigation

As shown on here the length of time on bail can vary a lot but it's typical that it will be a minimum of 3 months and im sorry to say some people end up on bail for longer. Once the police have concluded their investigation they will pass it to the CPS who will make a decision on whether to charge or NFA.

At the station they will conduct an interview and also take mugshot and DNA samples I would imagine, once concluded you will be bailed. Judging by what you have said it sounds as though you are unlikely to be held in a cell and so the total amount of time at the station will be less than others because they are expecting you. Nonetheless if there are any delays they may place you in a cell whilst you wait

Aidy, am I correct in thinking your original post was from a couple of years back? Were you ever arrested?

On a positive note, at least you will are beginning to move towards a resolution (im sure having this hanging over your head for the last few years must be difficult)

Hello, I'll give you a very quick rundown of what happened!

•Around 15 years ago (was just about to get married!!), her friend made an allegation of sexual abuse (not against me!), and then my niece made some allegations against me!
                    • I was never arrested or taken to any police station....a gentleman (who I'm not entirely sure was from the police??) came to my house and asked me a few questions etc...no further action was taken!
•I had no contact with my niece after this!!!
•this was until around 2005 when I was at a music gig with my Mrs, and I saw her with her mum (my sister) and I simply ignored her as I had no interest in speaking or having anything to do with her!!
To my amazement she came over to me...apologised for what she said and was crying her eyes out!
To be honest at that precise time, I was just overwhelmed by what was happening....and it felt like it was over!
•I never really had much contact after that if I'm honest as I was still very wary...but Xmas, family get together's was no issue, me and my Mrs even looked after her own child once!!!
•then around 2.5 years ago, she must of had some councilling, and she told them she had been abused!
They contacted the police and it all kicked off again!!!!??
I was not cautioned, just invited in for a chat....she didn't want it to go anywhere, so they just said the case was closed!!
•around 3 weeks ago, I believe her partner dumped her (by all accounts she likes a drink too much?) and she went round to her brothers and told them I had abused her!!!???
Anyway she then went to the police and it's all kicked off again!!!

So as you can see, it has been going on for over 15 years!

She is not very well imo

                    Anyway that's the situation folks

The more i read of your case the more I cant beleive you are in this position again keep strong tomorrow, In the current bandwagon and climate it seems that may be spurring her on. As you already know from experience there are so many in your position. Same as OH was. But third time by same person especially When the first time she had a friend make an accusation against someone else, this seems to be a common theme.
                      Good luck tomorrow

                        Ok so quick update.
Went to the police station today..
Was booked in, and my solicitor was informed that she had changed her story slightly ie there had been an incident of 'oral rape' (this had previously not been mentioned in any interview!)

So my solicitor was slightly taken back by this!!

Anyway went through the interview and was asked some very strange questions, most of which my solicitor told me not to answer!

Very stressful really and the OIC was a right *****!

Some of the stories were quite odd and didn't make much sense to me really!

I again denied any of such incidents took place!

                        Bailed till Feb

Not allowed to have unsupervised contact with my kids either!

And assuming the SS will be in contact soon!

**** really but not a lot I can do about it all!

                          Sorry to hear this.
Unfortunately this seems to be the way of things in this current climate.
Very difficult to deal with but stay strong.
They're obliged to investigate to avoid criticism in the future.
You will probably find the emotional roller coaster a tough one but you're not alone.
                          Keep us posted.

Apologies in advance to Aidy for the following rant (and to everyone for the language)....

I find this absolutely ridiculous - How the heck can the police take this seriously? This FA has accused/withdrawn/accused/withdrawn/accused ..... At what point are the police empowered or allowed to say "F*!k off now, you're just wasting our time!?"

There's so much said about how the authorities are stretched to the limit.....well here is an example as to why! It's absurd that even if the police do think that it's all false, a waste of time or both - they can't....they've got to spend valuable time and money on a wild goose chase! What happens when she drops it again?.....2 years from now will it be time for the Bi-annual "Let's accuse Uncle Aidy of abuse" game??

Anyway -apologies again. As you can see, I really do feel for you Aidy. Especially as you're going to be restricted as to when/how/where you get to see your kids because of all this. All you can do is trust that this bizarre mess that you have been drawn into is resolved as quickly as is possible and is followed up by prosecuting this FA to bring an end to it once and for all.

                            My Best Wishes to you.
