On Monday 2nd November at 9pm the BBC are showing a documentary on what is consensual sex and how teenagers perceive what is rape and what's not. There will be scenarios and a panel that will give their views on the subject. It will be interesting to hear the comments on this programme.

With what we have just gone through, I don't think it a good idea to watch live with my OH. However, I will watch it on I player after it has aired, and reserve judgement until then.

Will watch this. I think it's important that the programme is done as tactfully as possible and I do think it is important to talk about the issues of consent . I also feel there should be more media coverage of clearly false allegations and the impact on the lives of those who are falsely accused. Both those who are actually raped and those who are falsely accused of rape are victims.

Agreed, she was clearly not consenting. He took advantage of a drunk and sleepy girl. He may have done what he did because he was drunk and can't read people but that is no excuse and any reasonable person would see that.

As for the guy who had been falsely accused saying that he would rather be accused of murder, I agree

And they've brought in the fact they've had sex before. So what? I doubt that would be admissible. Having had sex with him before doesn't mean he hasn't committed the offence now.

Of course it doesn't. I think any reasonable person can see that what he did was an offence.

The text messages he sent to his mate after the incident showed he knew she was not "into it". Not being "into it" means she is not consenting.

The barrister's gowns are wrong too....... wigs out of a joke shop and odd barrister gowns, you'd think they would at least try to get the outfits right!

Thought the programme was ok. Could have been better but was a bit bitesize. Would really like to see a show on false allegations too but can see why that will probably not happen.

Me too. It was pretty clear.

And then we hear the bang of a gavel. Except that gavels do not exist in UK courts.....

I am astonished that some of the women though it was merely "a mistake". The guys were more understanding that this was wrong and at least one said he should serve his sentence. I was surprised that the "automatic 7 year sentence" was magicked out of the thin air. It doesn't work like that.

"Tom" didn't care a carrot that she wasn't "into it" and went ahead and did it anyway. Hopefully anybody who watched this and was into that sort of behaviour has now thought twice about it.
