The Death Blow has been Dealt

Back from my bi-monthly visit at 4.30 this morning. Finally got an appointment with his lawyer, thinking we were going to discuss fighting tactics for the appeal, but no- I was told there is to be no appeal, no grounds found, the fiscal would bring in further charges and if found guilty after a retrial the fiscal would appeal against the current very lenient sentence.

So now, I see nothing, No future, no return to normality, no family life for us, nothing. All hope gone now. How do you live with this, knowing that the accusers have got away with making false and contradictory statements to the police, lied in court? I asked the sol this and he just said that it's what people do.

How to carry on? I have no idea. No doubt this time next week , I'll be back with some fighting talk.
But for now, excuse me while I go rock in the corner

Were there counts on the indictment the jury could not decide on, so left on file? If not, I cannot see how further charges can be brought, unless further allegations have been made.

I am so sorry that you've been given this bad news.
It's such a nightmare.
I wish we could do something to help, but all I can do is send big hugs through cyber space and let you know we are all here for you.
Please try and stay strong.
You will get through this, just life is on hold for a while.

RF - if further allegations are made by the same people after trial and conviction can the case go back to court?

In theory yes but unlikely to go anywhere as complainant would have to answer awkward questions, such as "why didn't you mention this before?" That would be a tad difficult to answer.....

managed to struggle in to work this afternoon against my better judgement.
I just feel as though it's worse than the initial allegations- we had been living on hope but now ......
And it didn't really help when the sol said over and over again he believed the verdict was wrong and it is a miscarriage of justice- but this is where the buck stops. I would rather he have said he's guilty and be damned!!

Rf I'm really not sure- there was something about a photograph on his laptop which was dropped and it's something to do with this charge that would be resurrected. However I did rather get the impression that he was trying to say they would find further complainants (there have been none at this point and we lived in a very very tight knit community ) but how many times do they do this? I'm convinced that the historic allegation that was used to nail him was a result of some kind of trawl.

The sol described this complainant as a very convincing liar (even though the trial was stopped twice, once so the defence could accept a change of date by 2 years, the second time so the original statement could be faxed to the court to be read to him as he couldn't remember) . I am appalled by what has happened .
Just need to find a different way to fight this.

Those that I owe pm's I'll "write" this weekend. I don't know how I would have coped thus far without you guys and this forum.

I just hope and pray all those waiting in limbo have a better result than we did.
