Hi lowest ebb, I'm glad to see your getting some great advice and hope you're a bit nearer to getting a solicitor sorted.

I just wanted to take you up on something in your post no 7... where you reply to Casehardened:

Do you think that's really a good idea? He's a child of 15 (albeit aspiring to be a man). Wheather you go into the interview with him and the solicitor or not, I feel he probably needs you around to shoulder some of the apprehension and anxiety he must be feeling. If you leave him to make his own arrangements etc, it could feel to him as thoug he's on his own. In interviews where there's alot to say or remember, as long as you don't interfere, 2 pairs of ears are better than 1.
As Izzy said, it's important to stay strong for his sake.

Try to come away from it all and do something fun with the family ......

I can fully understand where you are coming from WGO, however, the son is the client, not the mother and he's not too young to understand what is going on (no pub intended!) although obviously has no experience with this sort of thing, so he can be guided by his mother (or any other responsible family member) with regard to discussing any potential change of representation.

However, he's not been charged and hopefully he won't be. Instructing a fresh solicitor now will more than likely cost, because there is no legal aid, unless he is called in for a reinterview. For instance, this could happen if the complainant has been asked about any circumstantial evidence he told the police, that differs from what she said (people who were present, timings etc).

What a MASSIVE relief.....NFA

Hi all

Sorry we haven't been on here for a while as we have been trying to get some sort of normality in our lives as his bail wasn't due till June. Its been hard to do but we succeeded for his sake with his exams at school coming up etc.

However, last night out of the blue CID turned up and gave us the news that they are taking NFA.

you can only imagine going from the shock of the police at the door to that of huge relief.

We want to say thank you to all who have supported us on here and it really helped to have somewhere to pour your heart out and good honest people assist you.


A MASSIVE thank you to the main man Gerry McDonald who we've thanked on a personal message. He has been with us all the way through,.

Please have faith in the police, they are doing their job and its mainly due to low staffing levels this takes so long. RRemember, its not them that made the claim against you. They are neutral and looking for the truth.

There is a victim in this, the girl. Her mother will be going through hell as she was uawre of what her girl had been doing.I feel for her mum.

My son, he now has to rebuild his life. He gets called rapist at school etc, but this will die down.

The truth prevails. Have trust in the police, I didn't before, but do now. The guy in our case was simply superb

Wonderful! And all on legal aid too! Gerry does seem to have a track record of NFA's and Not Guilty Verdicts at trial

Be prepared for highs and lows, mood swings etc when you come down off the high

What fantastic news sorry to just jump into the conversation but I read yr story with interest as my boy is going through a very similar situation and our family is in tatters as he's been removed from my care because of it its so lovely to see a happy ending for these young lads all to often the victim ( I use that term very loosely ) is believed regardless of anything else so well dne to you and yours and keep yr fingers crossed for us to have the same outcome
