Found not guilty

My son was found not guilty of sexual assault. In fact, the jury was dismissed after barely two hours of the trial starting because the accuser's evidence did not match her story. Her Barrister did not bother calling any witness because of her flawed evidence. The case went on for over a year, my son was suspended from uni and he spent over 5 weeks in a psychiatric hospital because of the stress. Can my son sue this girl for false accusation because of what she put him through? Plus, I think she should know not to go making false accusations. Any similar experience? Please help.

It good to hear that in your son's case justice did prevail though, as in so many instances, the case should never have been brought in the first place!

Does she own anything or have any financial assets? If not don't bother as it would cost you a lot of money to do that.

Have you thought of writing to the DPP to ask whether they would consider prosecuting her - that's if it was crystal clear she was lying at trial?
