  • Finger Prints / DNA of Innocents

    Hi

I was arrested on suspicion of rape and false imprisonment. My finger prints and DNA sample were taken by the police in the police station. I was not charged and the case was withdrawn on CPS advice.

Can i make a request to the police/cps to destroy my finger prints and DNA samples? Will it affect my CRB?I need advice and help.

    Hi Khan,

I know how you feel I was found not guilty in 2 minutes by my jury and the judge tried to get the case stopped after my wife was shown to lie in court.

I dont intend committing any crimes never have never will but I resent being treated like a criminal by the system and just being told your free to go at the end of it................

    makes my blood boil.

      Dear Forum,
I have been treated exactly the same way as Khan and need to know how this false arrest will affect my status.
I was falsely accused and arrested around March this yr , but the case was dismissed by the CPS after about 24hrs.Before then my pics , DNA and all details had been taken by the police.
I'm currently out of the country but will like to know how to proceed with getting my name and details cleared off the Police files

You will need to ask your solicitor about this. Some years ago you could go to plod shop and physically see them remove your data. However this doesn't happen now and with the Government wanting databases for just about everything I would doubt that the information will be deleted completely.

Survivor, juries don't come to a finding of not guilty within two minutes. It would take them that long (at least) to get to the jury room let alone deliberate and come back out!

You were lucky that the judge tried to get the case stopped when the complainant was shown to be lying. I've attended many trials where the complainant has been proved to be lying but the judge would not stop the case because of that although he might clarify that a lie has been told. What are you saying he did in order to "try to get the case stopped?" I would be very interested to know the details of that!
