  • My son falsely accused of rape

    Can anyone advise me.

My son was at a pub with friends and a young lady (21yr old) turned up and was talking to them all. She got very drunk and was falling over, so my son offered to walk her home as they lived near each other. Then later on after he dropped her home she called the police and said he had raped her. The next day he was arrested and released on bail on suspicion of rape. This was on 2nd July 2013. Since then she has been out and about telling people in our town his name and address. We informed the police what she was doing and they have been and spoken to her twice telling her to stop it. But she continued. I started doing my own investigations on her and found out my son is the 3rd guy she has accused of rape in 6 yrs. Also lots of people who know her came forward and told me she is a compulsive liar and attention seeker. She has destroyed my sons life. He has lost his job over it, been getting death threats and now under a mental health team as he was suicidal. Then today he was due to answer bail again and the police have called him and said they have dropped all charges...... Although we are all very relieved, where does he go from here. Can we force the police to charge her with false allegations ???? Or would we have to bring a private prosecution ???? Many Thanks Caroline

    hi,

im not sure if you can force the police to press charges, but i remember seeing in the news paper that a woman was sent to jail for accusing 4 or 5 different man of rape,so i would have a chat with the police about it.

well if the charges have been dropped i would take yourself and your son down there and ask to speak to a different officer, i was arested on hurting my son and rape of ex-partner 2yrs after a court battle for our son, i could prove she was lying about me hurting our son as he came to me with the marks and had kept the txs off her when i asked what they were from, so the police dropped that nfa, when i said i want to press charges for false accusations about my son was told it would not get off the ground!!!!!

yes i have just read it thank you. and i have just spoken to the police about the case and they say they can't prosecute her as they cant define that she is lying lol. she told them they walked a totally different route etc. and 15 mins before she rang the police to accuse him of the rape she rang her ex girlfriend telling her how she still loved her and wanted to get back with her. but as soon as the ex told her to go away she shouted down the phone that she had just been raped and then called the police. although my son is relieved he is very tearful.

CPS are reluctant to prosecute proven liars as they believe that this would stop genuine victims coming forward. Plus the police and CPS are under pressure to increase rape convictions to match Government set targets so unlikely to want to go the other way.

They tend to only prosecute those liars who admit they made false allegations. In the grand scheme of things not many false accusers admit to lying because they a) would lose face to those who believed their lies and b) they don't want to go to prison/lose their 'compensation'.

I know a very few have actually had the decency to step forward and admitted it but they are few and far between. It's pointless asking the police to attempt a prosecution if the false accuser doesn't admit to lying.

Juries get it right sometimes - but obviously sometimes they got it wrong - both ways. The innocent are sometimes wrongly convicted and the guilty sometimes get away with it.

The jury system is not infallible either way.

This makes me sick............ Are CPS concerned about discouraging false accusers? Do they have any awareness of the effect a false accusation has on our lives and our children?

The false accuser's desire for attention/sympathy is being satisfied as long as the lies are kept up.

To be honest I don't think they give a damn. As long as they are able to reach Government set rape conviction targets that's basically mainly all they are bothered about. if you sat through as many trials and appeals as I have you would see first hand the dirty tricks police and CPS pull to ensure a conviction.

Let's not forget the tax payer pays for all these wrongdoings, keeping innocent people in prison at the cost of around £40K a year per person, give or take; the cost of families going onto benefits because their main breadwinner is wrongly convicted sitting in prison; SS involvement; probation.... on and on it goes......... and the false accusers get their payout of course...... reward for lying.....
