So sorry about the awful news. The shock is unbelievable. I remember when my partner was told - it just did not feel 'real'. The feelings that you describe are exactly the same as we felt and probably everyone else on here.

Unfortunately, it does seem to boil down to her word against yours.

It also seems CPS tend to be making charge decisions of allegations of this nature irrelevant of whether they have a strong/weak case.

It all seems like there are too many hurdles but you will get over them. You will fight because you have to.

Try to stay calm and take care of each other.

Hi again - so sorry to read you will be charged. However, just because you are charged does not mean you are going to prison. there is a long way to go yet. You need to start building your defence of every single scrap of info that you and your friends can think of. See if this liar is on FB and other social media sites and see what she is posting. screenshot anything and everything you think is relevant or not relevant. What is she saying? What is she doing? how is she behaving? Is she suddenly splashing a lot of money around and bragging about it? save all this info electronically somewhere plod won't get it in case they seize your pc/laptop.
Don't talk tot he police without a solicitor present. Only answer what they ask you and don't volunteer info that you think will help prove your innocence; that is for your sol who, by the way should be a specialist in historic rape cases. Plod doesn't want to know - they - and the cps have conviction targets to meet and are not interested in finding out the truth - sad but true.
Do not give up - do not despair. Just because it's her word against yours doesn't mean the jury will believe her. read billkickass's thread - link below - it was her word against his (I went to parts of his trial to support him and his gf and families) and he came out with 2 Not Guilty verdicts...

Thankyou for this, have looked through Billy's story. It doesn't change anything for now. Three days without eating, sleep has gone haywire. The strange thing is I have not broke down yet??? I am quite an emotional person but the tears are not here yet. Is this shock? My wife is the rock at the moment and keeps telling me I have done no wrong. My solicitor spoke to me the other day and told me to let him know when the summons comes through. He reassures me that it is a week case, twelve years ago, no specific date, but I am dreading the whole process. I have never hurt anyone in my whole life and the thought of being associated with this charge sickens me. Why? is all I can ask, why would someone say this about me. I have a beautiful six year old son and the thought of being taken away from him tears me up.

I too was accused of historic abuse and was given a legal aid barrister to represent me at crown court. Throughout the case he told me not to worry as the prosecution had a weak case etc. Two weeks ago we went to trial and yesterday I was found guilty by a majority verdict. The barrister said "well these things happen". I am to return to court in three weeks time and I have been told to expect at least 15 years.

I know it doesn't change anything, but I just wanted you to read a real case where the outcome was a positive one - IT DOES HAPPEN....

I think being unable to cry is caused by the shock and disbelief - it's just too much to comprehend and your brain is probably trying to process it all.

As for "Why?" it is probably something you will never find out - though financial compensation is a very strong motivator for many as is revenge and jealousy.....Eventually you will possibly come to stop wondering "why?" be strong
