Hi & welcome to the forum.
We do have a few Scottish members who may be able to make some suggestions so I have moved your post into a separate thread as it will be more noticeable.
In the meantime have a look through this section:

Sorry to read this Bond007.
I haven't any experience of a solicitor or advocate in those areas but Citizens Advice Scotland might be a starting point for you.http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/scotla...singasolicitor
They can advise not only in complaining about solicitors but can help you find one in your area that has experience in the appropriate area of law.
The law society would be another - http://www.lawscot.org.uk/home#node-1064 - I don't find it the best of sites for finding a solicitor but someone from Citizens Advice should be able to give you help with it.
Chris Saltrese is based in England but work nationwide - http://www.chrissaltrese.co.uk/index.html
I don't think they take legal aid cases but have a really good reputation.

Mr Currie (Solicitor) & Mr Nelson (Advocate). Best of the best of the best as far as I am concerned. So thorough it is scary!!!!!!!!!
Not sure of their position with a case that's been through trial and is on to sentencing but you have very little to loose by enquiring and everything to gain if you manage to get them on board. Professional is not a good enough word to describe them.Wow... A signature option!

Phone around by all means and do not jump. My recommendation is merely that. It is not going to be a case of employ the best and the results will flow, every case is different and every solicitor/Advocate has different direct experience. The Advocate I had, Mr Nelson, demonstrated clearly in the High Court that he was 'thinking exactly like the judges' so his opinions on success or insights to potential for appeals would closely reflect their likelyhood of success. He would be well suited to give his opinion and if it is to your liking then he is more than capable of handling any subsequent case and handling it with the utmost professionalism and dedication.
Mr Currie (solicitor) is the first point of contact and from there things can obviously progress. It is not entirely necessary to use the Advocate as Mr Currie seems more than capable and will introduce the external help (Advocate) if and when required depending on what is happening and where it is happening. He also has a very bright young chap, fresh out of uni, who is 'shadowing' him at present and bang up to date with at least the theoretical side of the law so the team, as far as I can see and indeed have experienced, is complete.Wow... A signature option!

I have however been subject to numerous road traffic prosecutions (lighting defects, seatbelt, speeding etc) and me being me I have went to court every time. Sad I know but that's just me. I have used varied 'styles' of solicitors from the 'in your face we are PROs' to the subtle 'picked because they look ok' types and have found that generally they're all useless. It's not that they're truly useless but they're just not particularly interested in anything other than money and they do the minimum amount of work to process things through.
Mr Currie and Mr Nelson went far beyond doing the minimum. They acted thoroughly and precisely at every turn, they did so much work in the background and gathered so much information that I was astounded when the appeal process began and they started letting me know about the entire history of what they had been doing and just how much info they had gathered. They were prepared for trial before a trial was ever a formality, they were still lacking information from the prosecution but then that isn't anything new and they had a fully detailed history of communications showing short comings in basic things that the prosecution hadn't done or provided.
Give em a call. Have a little meeting with them and see how it goes. If you don't 'feel' them then don't use them. I can't really provide any other recommendations as my personal experience is with them.Wow... A signature option!
