  • Question, hope you can help!

    Hi

Am wondering about the following: I know that in our case, the FA were made via an anonymous phone caller. I also know that plod have ways of tracking such calls. Is there any way to find out where the call came from? As in get sol to request them to find out? It would be of utmost importance in our case as it would lead to the FA who is not even the alleged victim (because the alleged victim has not even made a statement)! Thanks!

Hi DBI - I guess you could ask your sol to request the info re the original phone call, but whether plod would give it or not _ who knows - my guess is they wouldn't with such words as "We can't discuss this with you" or some other such nonsense....... plod won't want to do anything which they think might be of help to you.....xxx

believe it and weep - as has been said many times on many posts, plod is not interested in the truth or the innocence of the defendant - they need to meet targets and conviction rates - so will do their best to withhold anything which could help the defendant......xx

Hi DBI (it is a good name!)

Have you spoken to a good private investigator? Many must be ex police and know the ways of doing things. A long shot but a call won't cost the earth to find out. Good luck x

Hi DBI - I think that requesting the source of the complaint (in this case phone-call) from the police via your solicitor is perfectly legitimate and important to do so. Imagine a situation where plod could just 'say' "We got an anonymous phone-call, you're nicked!" Who first made the complaint was a question asked by the jury at my son's trial as it wasn't the alleged victim.
It may be that all calls coming into or going out of a police station are recorded, in which case they would even have a voice print. I'm not sure that a Private Investigator would be able to get more than your solicitor, again, ask your sol. It might be they have someone they're used to working with.

Thanks for that WGO! Youe see, in our case, there are two possible sources of the phone call. The first source would be someone who would get her facts right as to personal details of those 'involved' (allegedly). The second person is someone who would have done it out of vengeance and spite just to somehow ruin my/our lives. She cannot know all of the personal data and does not even speak good English. Nos considering the fact that the alleged victim has made no statement and would also have absolutely no reason to, we do find it absolutely important to find out where the call came from. Actually, we don't really even need a specific number but merely the country to be blunt. Can't say more here though....

They'd definately be able to trace the number and if you can get that, then I would have thought that was even better.
                  All the best.

I hope so too, but I first need to instruct sol to do so, cos of the country difference. xx
