what can you do if you have found something on the Internet (BBC) telling the alleged story that is totally untrue? Grateful for any advice!

If you believe it to be untrue then it's a matter of proving such and then them squirming away behind various legal precedents..
If it's still to be tried for truthfulness then, basically, you can do bugger all.
The media is quick to jump in but equally quick to 'forget'.....Wow... A signature option!
