A solicitor won't hurry the police up at all. That is not their job. They can make enquiries as to how far they have got and suggest things you could be doing, although some sols won't or can't do that without being paid as no legal aid would be available unless or if at another police station interview.
Some sols will do this for free out of the goodness of their hearts, if they have time but nobody should expect that.
