We had the same, just before Christmas, my hubby was called in for a "short interview" on his bail date, unbelievable that they just get this info on the "exact bail date" when they are supposed to let you know as soon as poss, a few months down the line. He ,too, was charged on some trumped up allegation. Well, we have been forced into a corner now, and our only option is to fight, and in one way, that is a good thing as now, SHE will have to turn up in court and answer to her actions and we stand a GOOD chance of proving my husbands innocence and her lies! Karma, Believe!

Sorry to hear about your hubby Angry, but I too believe in karma and they will regret whatthey have put us all through. We will never back down. I've never felt so sure about anything in my whole life! X

One thing I will say is that in her original statement she claims she was raped repeatedly and she was under age, but her statement has now changed to it being consensual but under age!! She has tripped up already by changing her story, are the cps completely stupid??!!

I know it seems that I'm always defending the police & CPS and indeed I think they are between a rock and a hard place. They are being pushed by politicians who are in turn influenced by public opinion, to crack down hard on sexual offences especially where minors are concerned. I would speculate that if the JS bandwagon had not rolled into town, charges would not have been brought.

I suspect in your other half's case the 'victim' was interviewed fairly thoroughly and when it became apparent that the rape story had glaring holes in it, it was suggested to her that, due to the passage of time, she might have been mistaken in her recollection of the details and hence the second story was concocted. At this point the matter may well have been dropped were it not for the JS effect.

Your legal team will see both the original and revised statements and undoubtedly will be able to tie her up in knots during cross-examination.

Well said, Casehardened, I too believe what I have read on here, that the CPS are letting nothing go at the mo, because of JS.. Surely they should have enough intelligence, gumption etc to work out that each case is different and should be judged on its own merits - obviously not! But whose money are we wasting? Not theirs! The only ones losing money are the FA, but who cares about them?

Case hardened is right of course. The police have targets to hit with charges and their job effectively ends there. So in the current climate they will see through all cases and push them through the CPS... After all the cases that get thrown out per court don't count against their targets. So they are seen to be clamping down on the jimmy saviles of the world when in reality they're pushing anything through even if its weak. A growing amount of these cases are discontinued before reaching court

Hey all, not really sure how I feel today... Exhausted, deflated, anxious, excited... To name but a few feelings. Feel geared up, but also feel like I need a rest. What a mad free days it's been! Other half is on the phone to the union as I type!

I agree about the saville thing and it's not the first time this has been mentioned. It's ridiculous that everyone is being painted with the same brush.

I read the charge sheet last night and it's even more laughable as it's now down from rape to sexual touching with consent! For goodness sake, talk about clutching at straws!!

Sorry that was just my interpretation, as there are more than one charge of the same nature. Combining this with her story and what actually happened, I'm just aiming that there is no way she would allow him to touch her that way more than twice without her being consenting to it. If you knew the whole story it would make more sense. As a woman, you don't just keep going back for more unless you are consenting!

Am I right in thinking the police and cps aren't considering any kind of rape occurred but the offences relate to sexual activity with a minor. That will be where the consent comes from. It won't state that on the charge sheet but sounds as if the girls story has changed from being forced into it to consenting to it. And it has turned from full sex to touching. I'd bet my left arm that her story changed when she realised she might have to undergo a medical exam
