My brother goes on trial on Monday for grooming and sexual assault. He has had a nightmare year and with the Saville investigation everywhere you turn at the moment I just can't talk to anyone. But now I've found you I'm hoping for some words of wisdom and support to give us strength over the coming days, weeks and months.
Early last year our grandfather passed away. A few weeks later my brothers girlfriend ended their two year relationship. He was also having issues at work feeling unsupported in dealing with a dificult employee. He decided to register in a chat room for people who live or lived locally. In this chat room he met a few people, male and female and he felt a bit better about everything. He chatted regularly to two women who after a few weeks befriended him on FaceBook.
After another couple of weeks he arranged to meet up with one of the women. He went to my mums and told her about his date, got his hair cut and went to meet her. He was suffering badly with hay fever so ended up leaving after less than an hour. They continued to txt each other and she needed reassuring that he left because he was ill. He told us what had happened, that she was pretty, a student and he might see her again.
A couple of weeks later he told us he was going to meet another girl that he'd met online. A few hours later we got a call asking us to pick him up as his car had been smashed up by a woman with a cricket bat. He said he had no idea who she was but was shouting at the girl he was meeting. Two days later the police knocked on his door and arrested him.
When he was in questioning he was told that the girls were actually 14 and 12. The mother of the second girl had made the complaint because she had found naked photos of her daughter on her phone that she said she had sent to my brother (these have never been found on my brothers phone or computer). He had met them in a chat room for adults, they had told him they were 18 and 20 - he was 26 at the time. He spent 8 weeks in prison then bailed on tag.
A few weeks later the police siezed his car and empounded it with no explanation. They also locked him up in a cell for the night when he went to report into the police station - again with no real explanation.
As I say, his trial starts on Monday and we have no idea which way it will go. I'm just praying alot because there isn't anything more I can do.
