question about rape case

hii all..

There is something I want to know.

when a person got arrested for suspicion of rape, and the case take time then goes to CPS and end up going in trial.

Question is, how much does it cost to government for all procedure like roughly? including, duty solicitor, forensic search and evidence, officers working in the case, barrister and judge...

A lot.

Can't state figures but there is an endless lists of costs in investigating cases and launching prosecutions.

I would say it's into the 5 figure mark by the time it gets to trial, at least.

A lot of things are variable in any possible calculation so it would be near impossible to give an exacting figure.

A Freedom of Information request laid out vaguely and seeking an 'average' may return a ball park figure that would satisfy your question but even then I doubt if the info would be available. Just too many variables.

we are being asked for 2500 a month ,cant pay it , we have been givern a hardship form to fill in ,

Who has asked you for £2500 a month and for how many months?

I'd imagine if ANYONE is asking you for money then you have a right to know what the money is for. I would ask for a breakdown of how they arrived at the figure you're being asked to pay.

that was the figure legal aid has said we have to pay for 6 months , we havent got a penny so how they have come up with this is beyond me,we have filled all the forms in and answered them honestly , we are also in a IVA

I can't understand why legal representation is not FREE for those accused of a crime of a sexual nature as you are FORCED to have a legal representative. Massive extortion racket???

trial has been set for jan 28th , the alledged rape took place 34 years ago , lm not in a good place at the moment

I'm so sorry for all your pain and worry , every time I read someone's story I get so choked,I wish more than anything that the accusers could have a glimpse of the lives of the accused and those who are around them and love them. Please please don't let these wicked people beat you, and take strength from those around you that love you and trust you,one day this will be over and hopefully we will all be able to help others in the similar situations, because all the time the government can't find a more realistic way of dealing with, and processing these alleged cases, there will be others, and more suffering. The cps will not hurry at all it was nine months before my other half was put to trial , don't listen to any rubbish you get that legal aid and clear ur name ,
