Of course it's a game to them, but what can one do? I had to be interviewed in front of 3 women. Having to explain all of the nitty gritty stuff to them was daunting enough!!

Didn't you have a lawyer with you when you were with the police?

Nothing at all. It was just an uncomfortable experience explaining my side.

Oh, I see. Yes, I can understand that. Mr Saffron told me the police asked him all manner of exceptionally personal questions when he attended his "voluntary interview" and, as a very private person, he loathed having to disclose details of our sex life.

Often the police will deliberately ask these probing questions to make the defendent feel uncomfortable. Where these are irrelevant (and they often are), the solicitor should politely get them to wind their necks in...

I have a rule I tell people to never speak to the police no matter what.Even with a lawyer with this type of accusation you are automaticly guilty in their eyes your lawyer should have said he does not want to speak to you and they can't bother you with helping them build a case against you.

Then he would've been arrested so that wouldn't work really would it...and it would set the whole investigation off on a bad foot for the accused...

Sorry to be too late but work...

I wanted to answer to ridethespiral against the nonsense not to answer the police.
I saw a program a few weeks ago about this and the accused man was only answering "No comment"
to any single question from them.
He was found "Guilty",they had his DNA,fingerprints,...
                            Non,je ne regrette rien.

Sometimes it is the best course of action to give a no comment interview, it is all dependent on the circumstances surrounding each individual case. Saying no comment doesn't automatically mean you will be found guilty...just like giving a full and frank interview doesn't guarantee a not guilty verdict.

I know that you are right Faith and you start to know me ...

I thought when watching this program that this man wasn't really helping himself.
I think that if the jury in court would hear me answering all the time "No comment" to every question asked by the police
                                I wouldn't be really helpful:

                                To myself
                                To the police
                                To the society

The police had forensics, this was not a rape but they managed to prove that this man was in this room
with the other person, they found particles from him related to the incident and...

You wrote "Saying no comment doesn't automatically mean you will be found guilty"
and this is true if you didn't do it.
