Try to ask your solicitor to find out what the response will be before you turn up to answer bail. He or she might be able to find out whether this will result in a charge (or not).

It's a horrible situation to be in.

Been told I'm getting charged with attempted rape 2mrw.

I cannot for the life of me believe that this is actually happening???

Where does the attempted come from?

The charge of 'attempted' rape seems odd;remembering from your op that you'd told the police that you'd had consensual sex.

Perhaps the police were not able to obtain any confirmatory DNA evidence of intercourse? Or perhaps the woman has changed her story?

Whatever the reason, it must be preferable to have to defend a charge of 'attempted' rather than 'actual' rape.

You're defending & the CPS are prosecuting.

You, or rather your barrister, will come up with a defence for this: I suppose what was in my mind was that if you are to be charged with 'attempted' rape this is implying that rape didn't actually happen. If there is proof of intercourse does this then imply that sex was consensual? Attempted rape cannot logically be followed by consensual intercourse; it has to be one or the other.

Did your solicitor ring up the police on your behalf to find out what was going to happen tomorrow; Will they be attending the police station with you?

Yes she rang up, although it took 2 days to get back to me.

They said they don't normally turn up when a charge is being presented??? But if I need them then just to ring.......seems a bit strange to me!

I think this where my life ends? I am in the the line of work where an ECRB is everything and now I have to inform my Family.

                    HELP............

oh im so sorry to hear yo are being charged. the day my hubby rang me in floods of tears telling me they was charging him felt like the end of the world and for a few days we didnt know what to do just felt numb.
beleive me things get better and the more people we told and the more that did not beleive a word of it realy helps.
all his friends said he was a knob for cheating on me but that was for me to sort out but as far as getting charged for sexual assault they all stood by him and still are.
no matter what people say at the moment you will feel lost and think life isnt worth living well it is just to prove the ***** is a liar.

stay strong your family need you now when all this comes out

We are in same line of work, but I do work in Sport outside at a very high level and now I have to cease until I'm found not guilty!! I'm on way to receive the charge.

How do I start to tell my family? I've held on to this for 5 months and it's nearly killed me, what's it gonna do to them.......?
