Would a police incident report be generated the day the rape was reported

would a police incident report be generated on the days of rape allegation to the police or can they log it months later

Without researching...

I would have thought it would have to be generated the day it was reported just going off past experiences both with the police, this type of subject and just reporting incidents in work situations.
