Ha! Me too. In fact I only have to hear a car drive past and I am twitching the net curtains. (we live in a small cul-de-sac, so a car driving past is not a frequent occurence)

Oh me too...add to that the sounds of footsteps getting near outside...our living room is only single glazed so everytime someone is walking nearby, I'm expecting a knock on the door!

The telephone was my specific instrument of torture as the OIC (a nice girl and, viewed in retrospect, extremely professional) used to occasionally contact me by phone with updates, rebails, answers to my queries, etc.

The upshot was, that I used to not want to go out just in case it rang, always listen for answerphone messages when I did, and jump a mile when it did ring It took many months afterwards before I lost that sinking feeling of dread when picking the receiver up.

An OIC that rings with updates!?! My word, I can only dream I think my OIC seems professional (though I still don't trust him) but he NEVER returns calls.
I'm tired of hearing the same Back Symphony everytime I phone up his office!

Indeed! At the time I was batting in the dark but with hindsight, and having had the benefit of other folks experiences from the forum, I was very lucky with my OIC plus I think she was in my corner all along.

Having said that, I believe that it is sometimes possible to make one's own luck and I was pro-active and asked the sort of questions which appeared to make me more more knowledgeable about the process than I actually was
