    Hi all

Maybe we should set Facebook profile?

Maybe more people will come with same problems?

    What do you think???

I think it would be a good idea. How could we be associated with the page but remain anonymous?

I've set up a closed Facebook page for PAFAA. Anybody wishing to join would have to send me a PM via FB to explain why they want to be part of that group due to the sensitive nature of the subject. They could let me know their username on here so I am aware of who they are.

Anybody posting up the nitty gritty of their case going into the gory details, as some people do on here, are kicked off. It's rather more of a support than advice group.

I don't know how you could remain anonymous unless you set up a fake profile but then that could cause suspicion among members. As long as your FB personal page is set to private nobody would be able to see your wall/details anyway. Just don't accept friend requests willy-nilly until you know who people are.

I don't think many (make that any, really) of us are that interested in going the fb route.

Some members choose not to use FB anyway, and those members who are innocent but have been wrongly convicted are automatically barred from using FB under their terms and conditions.

On top of that, even though people are reasonably happy to talk about their issues here, not everyone wants everything out in the open to everybody on FB.

So, please don't hold your breath for a daftmoo FB page......

It could be a good idea in so far as some people actually end up in trouble DUE to facebook so may actually use facebook to find an answer to their issue.

The facebook page should include a 'link' to here so that people not actually wishing to join the group on facebook can simply re-direct themselves here via the 'link'...

Having a presence wherever people need assistance can only be a good thing.

The point that is being missed here, is that by signing up to a FB page you are letting it be known to all and sundry about something going on in your life that you would only entrust trusted friends and relatives about.

On top of that, members like me are banned from using FB, so once convicted others are unlikely to trip over the FB page anyway, thus the idea of drawing people in falls flat.
As if people can't find us as it is......

Several members of PAFAA forum are also members of the closed PAFAA FB page and the public awareness page too. it depends on each person I suppose. Some wish to keep quiet but others just want to get help and all their friends and family know anyway. Most of the members have loved ones in prison.

I originally looked for something similar to this place on FB just out of curiousity (google hadn't crossed my mind... For some reason) so thought it could be handy to have a page with a 'link' to here so that facebookers could click the link and then sign up here, not necessarily have to like the page or join a group... More a 're-direct'...

I'm afraid I am not keen on the idea of a FB page for this site. Our ordeal happened 7 years ago and since then we have been fortunate enough to make new friends (in real life, who are also my FB friends) and they don't know anything about what happened. Setting up a page like that could lead to questions from those who are not aware of the situation, and I don't want to have to answer them.
                    Sorry!

I think the problem too is that FB is rife with anti-sex offender attitudes, hence the "stop sex offenders accessing FB" page etc.

The trouble is there is no differentiation between guilty ones and falsely accused ones among the braindead troglodyte majority.

People can still look at our PAFAA Facebook pages.

You will have to join the closed group before viewing it so be prepared to be asked why you wish to join and a couple of nosy questions before being allowed on.

The open page which you can "like" (not much info on there apart from relevant news stories) as it is the public awareness page:

                            Dangerous

I think a facebook page is very dangerous just reading this thread.

You will probably find that some of our cases are hate campaigns which have been partly fuelled by facebook.

Becoming a member of a facebook page, like other replies in this thread have said, is only giving indication to all that something is going on with you and, if it's a hate campaign, like mine is, for being a bit of a lad, you'll just encourage more people to join in and make up stories.

No, facebook is a bullying tool, remember, we here are actually getting bullied to an extremely high and sadistic level and the police are helping them.

Think I have made my point, we are all deep enough as it is, let's not make it deeper.

So far there have been no problems with the PAFAA Facebook page whatsoever. Probably because it is set to "private".
