Thanks FA3, yes we got a good solicitor, thinking about changing the barrister.. dont know yet. Today has been stressful looking for a specialist which is hard to find. We have been in contact with Margaret before but got so busy, have to call her again one of these days, we werent charged yet at the time we met her. Be strong also! I guess it is so easy to say, but there are really days, it is hard. :-)

Stressful fw weeks but getting there

Just want to say I hope things are going well for you fighter and that you have found a way of proving the truth>

It has been a very hard month what with Xmas, New year and the 2nd anniversary of my Grandmas death but we have got through it, Unfortunately the OH is finding prison life hard he has moved cells 8 times in 7 weeks so is feeling so unsettled, he is managing to get by but is suffering horrific nightmares and just longs to be home, we are still hoping for an appeal but are not holding our breath as it is so difficult. Before he was sent down we were planning our wedding which we are still hoping will go ahead but I just cannot find any info on getting married to an inmate. I know people will think we are crazy getting married whilst in there but I know that is what he needs to keep him strong and we will do it properly on release then. I just wish this nightmare would end I want my little family back together my partner, me and our nearly 14 month old baby

      xx

Its amazing what you can get through - its only when you look back at it you realise that you're stronger than you thought possible.

I've answered your question on the other thread!

This is so very true never in a million years did I ever think I was as strong as I have been these last weeks to anyone who is going through the same I want you to know that even though it seems like an impossible situation you can get through it day by day and the fighting spirit you get keeps you going.

              Hi Gem,

Yes he got sentenced just before Christmas. He got 12 years, eligible for parole in 6 years, automatic release 8 years and on licence until the 9 year mark Register for life. Our Barrister was very shocked he said even though he told us 15 years he was expecting 17 years and it could have gone as high as 19 years if the judge wanted to.

Howevr in her sentencing the Judge did say that she gave him the minimum she could in the window she had for sentencing and she changed the unsupervised age to 16 instead of 18, said he is allowed unsuprvised in public and allowed back to the family home on completion of his sentence. So even she must know he is innocent right?

When it comes to his ex sharing her wealth well, the probation became aware of this so now his incomming and outgoing mail is being thoroughly read so I feel that all hope is lost there as they are probably corrupt and anything to help him will be intercepted. We have a new solicitor that was recommended by Margaret going to see him in a few days so fingers crossed

              xx

oh i am so very sorry..
are you considering appeal is that why you are going to see new solicitor ?
that is good news if judge says he allowed back home after sentenced .
i need to ask a few questions on the judges comments on our case also.
he said something similar at my son.s trial. mabye RF can help us on that one,
different people keep telling my son different things. probation officer / public protection dept .who has the last word on this. would it be the judge ? if so then at least we can have something to look forward to. keep strong fab

I think they all stick an oar in as the whole 'public protection' scheme. But as you say - RF will know!

You would need to get the sentencing remarks to clarify exactly what the judge has said at sentencing and then take it to your solicitor. You will have to contact the court reporters (not the press reporters!) and ask for a quote for the sentencing remarks unless an appeal application is in place - if it is it might be the case that the sol can obtain it via Public Funding.

                      Trials hmm

Hi yes we are hoping for an appeal on the basis of the money offered but I doubt we will get it :'(. I hope they didn't say one thing and mean another at the sentencing as it is all that is keeping my man going in there is the thought of coming home. The way historic rape allegations are held are awful and the trials are a farce those who have genuinely been abused tell the bare simple truth and the abuser gets away but those who wrongly accuse someone embellish so much that it seems so dreadful that you have to convict so wrong when they cannot keep the story straight
