I believe that the barristers are duty bound to inform the defendant of the plea deals available...as well as informing them of the potential difference it could make to the sentence.

They are indeed.

Guilty or not they let you know that your time in prison will be reduced if you plead Guilty (I think from 20%).
So they told me that for rape :I could do 5 years but I would stay only 2 and a half inside reduced to 2 years.

When you are innocent I don't know why you would plead guilty,this is completely absurd.

If you read the comment on this thread before he wrote about pleading guilty (22nd feb I think it's dated) he said that he goes to court on July the 2nd... Today, so I'm guessing his trial starts today.
