  • Trial starts today

Hi I have posted here before but many months ago. My son's trial starts today. He has been accused by my neice, who was 13 at the time, of rape. My son was 23 at the time. This was supposed to have taken place 16 months ago so we have had to wait this long for it to actually go to trial. My son is pleading not quilty as he is adiment that it did not happen. There is no dna evidence even though they took away both sets of clothing and the bedding where the rape was supposed to have occured.
I am to give evidence tomorrow in court and am terrified by the whole thing. My son,s solicitor has not been alot of good. He only saw my son on friday for a proper discussion about the case. The barrister he has will only be at court for the first 2 days then she is on holiday so another one will take her place. I have read on here how so many men are being found guilty even though there is no dna that I am not hopefull for my son.
I will repost during the week to let you all know how things are going.

Hi Janerose, I'm sorry to read that things have got this far. I hope that things go smoothly for him and that the right result is given.

Tell him to stand tall and hold his head high. Please keep us in the loop.
And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the world. Then made the world round .... and laughed and laughed and laughed ..

I really couldn't say - but best to take a 'nasty' bag with him just in case. There's a sticky about the contents on the site. Put 'nasty bag' into the search box, top left.

positive but how can you ever know what the jury think?

Hi thanks for all your wishes, we are now on day 3, it's felt like it's been good so far, she has made so many contradictions from her police statement and family trail, her mum also changed her statement just 2 weeks ago after when she was informed that her daughters medical records were been looked at, in her first statement she said her daughter went to doc at 11 and the doc rang her after with concerns her daughter may have been abused (would a doc even do that?!) she said she then asked her daughter if this was true to which she replied no, she now changed her statement 2 weeks ago saying she got mixed up with which daughter went to the doc (she has 2, the eldest is making the allegation and the other is 7 years younger!!) i as a mother know for sure i would not be mistaken which daughter a doc may have had concerns about on such a serious matter!! Her daughter claims that due to the so called abuse she drank, took drugs, did bad at school, self harmed and also attempted suicide, however both her own mum and best friend ( who she said she spoke to about things she couldn't to others) had no inclination of any of these claims which is extremely odd how would you attempt suicide and people not know, her mum said she did well at school and was just as any normal teenage girl. So that was all good, the judge did his summing up of the prosecution side today and made it sound all really bad though, he has to do defending side 2moz so will it be weighed out then?? only other thing is one of the jurors had fallen asleep during his summing up so he has to meet with his barrister in the morning to see where we go from here.
Janerose how is it going for your son?

fallen asleep?? - a pointy stick would be very handy if applied in a jabbing motion.

Ha ha yes she had to be woken up by an usher after the others left, she had a very red face, where does this leave us now though? i think she is just going to be dismissed but is it a fair trail with 11?
