Accused whilst being abroad

I am still living my nightmare six months on but I have a quick question.

Part of the allegations against me seems to stem from when when I was on holiday in a European country with the accuser. If thats the case can the UK Police investigate that or is it upto the European country concerned to do the investigation?

Just wondered any info would be appreciated.

If the alleged victim was also from the uk, then I think it would be dealt with here. If the girl was from the other country, then it would be done via her local plod.

I think this may complicate matters further but the person in question was not living in the UK at the time and was not from the country in question. Any idea who would investigate it?

In that case I think it would the police in either her country, or the one it allegedly happened in.

An appeal I am currently helping with - the defendant had been accused of raping his accuser in Canada. She lives in the UK as does he. They were on holiday there as a family.

The alleged rape in Canada cannot be prosecuted here apparently as it is outside the UK jurisdiction and he's not been arrested in relation to it by Canadian police.

The alleged rape, alhtough not prosecuted here, was mentioned in detail by the Crown to indicate "propensity".
