I am pleased to see how many on this site eventually get NFAd but my son who was falsely accused has been told the CPS have decided to proceed! I am absolutely gobsmacked and my son is in a deep state of shock. He was in a relationship with the woman in question who was several years older than him, separated from her husband and had children. She made an allegation of rape which is completely fabricated and unbelievably the CPS believe her. Apparently even the OIC didn't expect it to go to court (if that can be believed). We simply don't know where to turn, I feel sick all the time and my son is sinking into the worst depression. We have a meeting with a solicitor(duty) on Wednesday and a committal hearing a week later. I am shaking even typing this. I always believed that if you were innocent then you would be OK now I know better. I can't cope with the thought that he could get sent to prison for something he didn't do and he just won't cope with it at all. He is a lovely caring lad, a big softie really. Sorry for the length of my post I just need to get it out.

Hi, you really do need a specialist solicitor, a duty one really isn't good enough. If you put up your county, hpefully someone will be able to recommend one near to you.And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the world. Then made the world round .... and laughed and laughed and laughed ..

Glad you are here
Hello DD,
I'm so sorry you and your son are experiencing this horror.
You must find a solicitor who specialises in this sort of case.
If you live in the SE of England or near Manchester I can reccomend EBR Attridge.
Let me know and I'll give you details.
If not, just say roughly where you are and I'm sure others will then be able to point
you in the right direction.
Try not to panic, it's in its early stages but you need to learn how things work very
quickly.
As is said; "To be forewarned is to be forearmed".
Read through the threads on this part of the forum. You will find things that will be
very helpful in your fight.
By the way, don't worry about the length of your posts, there is no limit.
Just be careful not to put anything identifying in your posts as plod cannot be
trusted.
A visit to the GP is in order as it sounds like your son will be needing medical support
to function and fight.
You and yours will get all the support and help you need to get you all through this.
No one walks this on their own here.

Thanks for the comments. We are in the North East and would appreciate the name of a specialised solicitor, but do they do legal aid? I know it's called something else now. If not can anyone guestimate costs? My son has already been to GP as I was worried about his state of mind. I still don't understand why this is being progressed, having read numerous posts where NFA was given why hasn't it happened in this case. No evidence, no witnesses??

Thanks RF I emailed and Paul Angel just rang me now, he was great and said yes my son would get public funding. I couldn't believe he rang back so quickly and I feel a bit better now that we're being proactive. Still a long way to go and many more sleepless nights and panic attacks but we have to put faith in somebody. This is like a never ending nightmare. Apparently the accuser is telling everyone she knows that my son raped her so his shame knows no bounds - he's absolutely mortified and worried about reprisals. Seems strange she can do that but he can't speak to her to ask why she's doing this.

When you get to talk properly to them ask for Gill personally unless you get Mr Angel - alhtough he is the senior partner so that may not be possible.People Appealing Convictions of Sexual Offences ~http://www.pacso.co.uk

Wish I was - had to talk to a little old man this afternoon who sobbed for 40 minutes - he was found guilty on two out of six counts - majority verdict not unanimous - he's being sentenced on Wednesday. I wish I could have gone to support him as I think only his wife is going and she is likely to return home alone.
It's about eight hours each way on public transport. Sometimes I feel so damn useless.People Appealing Convictions of Sexual Offences ~http://www.pacso.co.uk

What a nightmare. All I can say is don't lose hope, my little brothers case got as far as the second day of the court case & then it got thrown out, before he even got chance to get in the dock, but after the accuser had on day 1. The prosecuter on the 2nd day (which was a different one to before) even said it shouldn't have got that far & the judge appologised to my brother & asked him how much it had cost him to get to court & marked it down for a refund.
Who knows why the CPS let some of them through, but it happens & it also happens where it gets stopped before the end.
I hope your sons does. Keep praying it does, & if it doesn't, lets hope sanity prevails with the verdict! x
