I am in shock and dont know what to do any help would be gratefully appreciated. Unbeknown to me I have been under police investigation since mid March and only found this out when three police officers turned up at my work not to arrest me but to ask me to attend the police station I was not at my office at the time but called the police and volunteerd to go to the police station. i duly attended and was interviewed and it was taped as a lady that I had a 6 month relationship with has faslely accused me of rape, absolutely unbelievable ! The police did not arrest me but said they were going to continue investigations they have contacted my mother and my sister I offered my mobile phone to them to check texts etc but they did not take it. I cant beleive how a woman can simply make things up and the police take it all on board. It is so worrying as the police just seem to believe everything that a woman says, have they never heard the saying " hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" I simply ended a relationship with this lady and as she did not want it to finish and wanted me back has now made up a ridiculous story and has made accusations to the police unreal!!! I was not arrested but just interviewed can anyone help me with any advice or suggestions as I am at my wits end with worry

    Hi normal guy
I'm sorry your here but welcome. Yes it's incredible this can happen, but as you will find out from this forum it's not at all uncommon unfortunately.
Try to relax and start breathing, the police move more slowly than a glacier so this is going to take a little while to get through.
The fact you haven't been arrested surprises me, but I can only think that's a good thing as I was arrested immediately. Have a good read through the forum as there's lots of good advice on here and everyone is very supportive.
I'm no expert, I've just been going through this myself, but the one piece of advice I'd give you straight off is don't talk to the police again without a solicitor present. Don't make the mistake of thinking just because your innocent you don't need a solicitor, you do.

      Hi normal guy

I'm sorry to hear your sad story. As a rape victim myself I know how much harm all these phoney allegations do to genuine victims of real rapists.

A friend of ours was falsely accused by a woman who'd thrown herself at him and then when he rejected her - in a polite and nice way - had him arrested and accused him of attempted rape.

Fortunately he had a cast-iron alibi!

I really do wish you well.

      Love and strength!
Kindness is the most important thing.
      After that maybe sincerity.

        Hi NormalGuy and welcome.

First of all try not to panic. Many many cases do not proceed to charge.
Second of all, get yourself some good legal representation lined up. The Solicitor will need to be one who is experienced at defending false allegations of sex crimes. A normal criminal sol will not be good enough. The sol will not be able to do much until/if you are charged, but it is helpful to have one ready.

Have the police given you any details of the alleged rape? Times, dates, circumstances? If so, write down everything you can remember about those particular occasions.

If you are struggling to cope, go to your GP and explain what is happening. Your doctor will be able to precribe meds if necessary, and also refer you to a counsellor to help with the anxiety.

Stay strong. No doubt others will be along soon with more advice.

A big thank you to all of you who have left comments for me you have made me feel human again. Unbelievably after checking my diary which I write everyday the date on which the alleged offence took place I was not even at the ladies house I was at the cinema and have got my visa card receipt when I paid which states the date and time on it, so after two months of investigations the police have not even mangaged to get the date right and my solicitor has passed the information onto them. I have also told the police that my mother has a text from my ex girlfriend on her phone stating that " we had a lovely evening last night and am so glad that we are getting back together" this was sent on the morning after the alleged incident exactly where does an alleged rape fit in with this text??? My ex girlfriend then let me leave her house that morning with her front door key and sent me a text stating " I look forward to seeing you at the weekend ". Is it normal for a woman who has claimed to be raped by me to want to then spend the weekend with me. My god the world and the Police obviously operate on a different planet to me. I have phoned the investigating officer on 3 occasions and left messages with her and after waiting for 4 days I have still not had a phone call from her as I want to tell her this information. Strange how the Police can find you immediatley and even sent three of them to my place of work but strangely disappear when you have something highly important to tell them !!

Oh no! The police will talk to the "victim" who will then change her story.......

Have you given this info to the police yet? If you haven't, I would urge you NOT to do so. If you hand them evidence that categorically proves you were elsewhere at the time of the alleged rape, the likelihood is that they will re-interview the complainant and ask her if she is certain of the dates...this gives her the opportunity to change her mind about the timing and to claim that she was confused due to the "trauma" of the "ordeal".

I don't want to scare you, but be prepared that this may happen. Alternatively, the police could feasibly "lose" the evidence you have given them. If you do decide to pass them anything that will help prove your innocence, be sure to make copies of it and keep it in a safe place (not in your home - with a friend or solicitor).

Bear in mind that the police are not interested in anything that might prove your innocence. They are there to gather evidence that a crime took place, not that a crime didn't happen.

Have you talked to a solicitor yet?

Saffron - the solicitor has apparently already given the police this info so a solicitor is involved already - and it's one who does not appear to know how to use various strategies in false allegation cases.

The post is a bit difficult to read as it's all in one block but I found that bit eventually!
