It is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but in practice it's the other way round.
The police and cps are not interested these days in whether or not someone is innocent. They generally regard everyone as guilty, and to that effect their role is in gathering evidence which will secure more than a 51% chance of a conviction.
If there is evidence which shows you are innocent, quite often it will be ignored, or "misplaced", or just hidden. Which shouldn't happen if the system today was truly about someone's innocence or guilt. It's not, it's just about getting convictions regardless.

The police are under huge pressure from the Government to increase rape convictions so that is what they will do - if only they were allowed to just get on with their job and investigate properly! Unfortunately it is not in their interests to do thatPeople Appealing Convictions of Sexual Offences ~http://www.pacso.co.uk

In addition, police gain promotion (which equals pay rise) on the back of how many convictions they get.
So of course, dishonest ones aren't going to turn down the chance of getting a conviction which helps them go up the ladder (and earn more money), are they?
And yes, all it takes is the word of one greedy person with no morals.

Sorry I can't. I am up to my ears with a trial and two appeals against conviction plus other support/liaison work at the moment.
I am sure that some of the more senior members here can help with whatever query you have. As long as it does not contain any identifying features you will be quite safe posting your question on here.People Appealing Convictions of Sexual Offences ~http://www.pacso.co.uk
