As there seems to be some difference between what we all think is the correct time for solicitors to keep trial paperwork I asked a barrister about this on a forum he runs.

This was his reply:



So the six years I was referring to was that the client's claim to the trial paperwork lasts for six years.

So I got it wrong regarding the set time for sols to keep the paperwork as there is no set time, and sols can choose that themselves. However, I knew that there was a six year rule there somewhere - and that was the client's claim for retrieving his or her own paperwork from them.

I will tuck that away somewhere in my files and I will be able to retrieve it at least until next time police raid my PC and mess up my filing system. The last time they wiped the memory...still on going with IPCC

Must say that since IPCC upheld my complaints and PPU officers have changed life is bearable and I can accept the new officers whereas the old ones had their own agenda.

Been long day with airport run to pick up friends so shattered is fairly accurate....I go to IPCC everytime they step out of line or raid my place, trouble is as I said IPCC pass it back to police force to investigate themselves. Prof Stds. supposed to be independent but actually told me and I have it on file that they are not independent and do as CC tells them. IPCC also will only look at individual complaints in isolation and will not look at whole picture....itsa getout amongst others....this last one however they have come out in my favour......wow, wonders only last a brief moment? Must clear everything or I get backlog can't cope with.
