I think it probably depends on which probation officer and area you live in. I know that other guys have not had the problems outlined - but it's always better to be prepared.

Yep you are right re inside SOTP: I've heard various figures for what each HMP gets per bum on seat, but whatever it is, it is still involves money which means that despite protestations of innocence, some prison officers will threaten some inmates and will promise the world to others, knowing the promises are false (parole; more visits; more phone calls; recat; move to a prison closer to home........)

Dirty tricks which if the innocent inmates succumbs then he has no chance of appeal later on if new evidence comes to light as the judges will assume that as he's done the course, or said he would, then they will not hear the rest of the evidence.

Sorry i havent been on here for awhile, Yesterday my husband was sentenced to 4 years in prison, After his solicitor and barrister advised him to plead guilty. Its a long drawn out story and when i am ready, I will tell you all what happened, Right at this moment i am listening to abuse being shouted at me through the wall from my nextdoor neighbors, Who found out about it from the local press, So many thanks to them for making this situation so much worse.

I'm so sorry to hear the news.
As for your neighbours - horrible people! You have done nothing wrong, you shouldn't have to take that sort of abuse.

Oh dear, so sorry. Having reread your first post on this thread where you gave details I find it hard to believe that he is guilty of anything more than foolishness, certainly not rape as I view it.

The neighbours sound like they are from the same mould as some jury members....

I'm so sorry to hear this. Your neighbours should be ashamed of themselves. The press obviously do not think of the grief they cause when running their "story". If you get any more problems ring the police, yes I understand they are not flavour of the month but you shouldn't have to put up with this sort of behaviour. Thinking of you

In theory you should be able to contact a Police Liason Officer and they're obliged to help you - you are innocent too, so don't be put off from contacting them. Those I've had dealings with are pleasant enough and do treat you kindly.

I'm sorry to hear that you live next to uneducated arseholes.

                  RFLH Thread.

Sorry to hear you are having problems from ignorant neighbours. Don't be afraid to use the police and call them if you ever feel really threatened. Meanwhile be sure to keep records of abuse and video/audio evidence if possible.
Most important don't ever think you are alone, hold your head up, you have done nothing wrong and if you don't get the help you need rom the authorities then let us all know so that appropriate pressure can be applied from outside your home.
It's difficult to put into words, abuse from neighbours caused my wife a lot of grief and led to a breakdown, don't let it get to you and don't hide away, as it gives them amunition and always try to have someone with you when you go out for support and witness if abuse happens outside. You don't say if you have friends or support which is so essential. If you don't have anyone then pleae contact the various organisations to see if they have anyone in your area who can support you.
Keep strong, don't be afraid to talk about your husbands case, the more people know the more they can try to understand. Most of all you have not done anything wrong. (Harassment is a serious crime and two incidents are sufficient to prosecute.)

Unfortunately he's pleaded guilty. No doubt his guilty plea was printed in the Press - which is another reason why you are getting hassle.

Had he gone not guilty and been found guilty, at least he could have attempted to appeal the conviction and the neighbours could have been told that he went down protesting his innocence.

Hopefully this will be a nine-day wonder and it will die down eventually.

Hi there, I'm so sorry that you are suffering abuse from your neighbours and I can't add much beyond the advice re. the police that others have said to you. Do ensure you keep a log of every incident. The story was in the Daily Mail, but after a few days there will be something else to keep everyone entertained. Please rely on your true friends at this awful time.

                      Kind regards
                      Jen
