    This is common.

    Hi Kev,

I went through exactly the same problem as yourself and I'm coming out the other end as we speak. In my case my ex has now been charged with perverting the course of justice. I wish I had seen your post earlier as like yourself I was so sure of my innocence I did not have a solicitor present when I was interviewed. I think I was more lucky than anything and now understand I should always gain one in future.

As soon as you were arrested you are normally in shock and there are lots of things you forget or you get wrong. In my case the first thing I did was to write to my local MP on the case and also I wrote to the Chief Constable of my arresting police authority. This straight away made the officers perform a proper investigation to find the truth rather than gain a conviction.

The next thing was I sat down as difiicult as it was with all the stress and type a diary of exactly what happened. I then of my own free will returned to the police and had an additional interview. I dont advise you do this yourself but this should be handed to your solicitor.

Its frustrating now that you have been charged as you won't be able to have her done for perverting the course of justice. If the police were thorough did they gain text messages from both your phones as this is the area that catches most people out. In the case of my ex there was a clear admission in her phone to a friend and talk of a claim from the criminal comp board so hook line and sinker.

I have sent you my personal number on mail as I know how lonely this can be and we always fell as though this has never happened to anyone else.

Kev has not been charged and is awaiting a decision by the CPS.

Even if he is charged and if the unthinkable happens and he is convicted, if she is later found to be lying the Crown can then decide whether to prosecute her for perverting the course of justice.

It makes no difference whether he's been charged or not. The son of somebody I know was convicted and later freed on appeal. The girl then was prosecuted for PCJ and is now in YOI.
