  • update from worried mam and dad

firstly we would like to thank you for your replies to our messages, it has helped us so much to know there are people willing to help and support when your life has been turned upside down.
today - sunday - we received a phone call from the police asking our son to go to the station - to give a "witness" statement. When we got there the policewoman came and spoke to us all - she said that our son was definitely not now a suspect, he was, instead, a witness for the police prosecution, and that they may call him to give evidence if the CPS go ahead with their case. She said they had always suspected something was iffy about the situation but couldnt tell us until all investigations were made. She had said to us at the beginning of the investigation not to worry - but we just thought she would say that to everyone, especially as my husband has just come out of hospital after major surgery. Anyway she said there IS a serious allegation still ongoing - but not against our son, or his friend who was with him on that night.
We have no idea what is going on, or what the charges are etc, but all we know is that our son is no longer in danger of being charged.
We were in total panic this whole last 2 weeks, but our faith in our son was never at issue - only the "system" that seems to automatically assume guilt when a call of rape is made.
Once again, thank you - until this issue affected us we had no idea how often this happens or the trauma the whole family goes through.

I am so pleased to read this, the relief must be immense.

That's great news, I am so pleased for you. Thanks for taking the time to post an update - often we simply don't hear enough good news!
Try to take a bit of time out now. You may find that this will affect you for a while, so you need to make sure you look after yourself.

I hope the police are telling the truth because it sounds like your lad could be a witness for prosecution - the prosecution of the person who called rape.

Please keep us all updated as this is something we like to see happen.

Hi there worried Mam and Dad

I haven't been around here for a while, but I read your story and the latest turn of events and wanted to come and say Hi. Others will know why I am posting on this thread and why I want to offer my support.

We had a 'turn-around' although much slower than your sons! I hope that it is the false accuser that is going to get her come-uppance!

If that is the case, be prepared for a long, emotional roller-coaster, there really is no choice but to fight on with it, if there is a chance of having someone punished for such a wicked crime against your son.

If I can be of any help at all please do send me a PM, I think my son and I have just completed the journey you are about to start!

And congratulations on getting this far! We shouldn't have to be here and there shouldn't be these little successes to celebrate, but now we are we might as well make the most of the good bits like your son not being charged.
