Often these cases do amount to just one word v another and that can be enough for a prosecution but more than 80% are NFA'd. The odds at least are very much in your favour. You also have witnesses who may be able to help corroborate her behaviour - if she told someone else about the "pregnancy" for example. Thinking about it, her phone might well have all the whatsapp messages you deleted so the police could hopefully get them from her.

Being able to explain a motive is important. Humans and juries in particular like stories to help make sense of things and the woman scorned, although a tad sexist. is a well known tale. It helps, trust me. If you can in any way prove her lying about pregnancies ( as opposed to something she can claim was a mere false alarm ) it will really help because it will undermine her truthfulness. Besides, you have already given your account of what happened so what else can you add?

What you won't know unless you are charged is exactly what she has said and you can only piece it together from the limited disclosure made by the police prior and during your interview.

It is a myth that rape always causes injury or that victims always fight back. A rape doesn't have to be violent, it can be a matter of her saying she asked you to stop and you didn't, so a lack of bruises or scratches might not say much, it really depends. Bruises and scratches can also be self inflicted by a really determined liar.

Keep gathering your evidence and get it all put into a concise timeline for your solicitor but try to take a break from it all too.

Remember you are gathering evidence to be prepared. There is every hope that you won't need it.

Thank you for the sound advice, like you say hopefully it won't come to that but I'm sure I'll keep this updated.

It's a shame I had to delete so many of her texts and couldn't easily prove her crazyness

Has anyone else found their health suffer through the accusations?

I've spent near enough every day since feeling sick
