  • Just Curious.....

I have been reading on here every day since the day i joined, so much of ppls lives. I was just wondering, if you dont mind sharing, where everyone is currently at in their F.A.
I am the girlfriend of a man who is currently in jail awaiting his trial in February for his F.A. and he has been there since July 21st. I found this site by searching the web and its the only one I found to help others cope so I decided to join. I am from Ohio, U.S.A. Our laws seem slightly different as I have to come up with $200,000.00 to bail my boyfriend out of jail during the police and prosecutions investigations. How ever, our police, prosecutors and children service workers all seem the same, vindictive and out to win a case. As I said already, this is the only place I found where ppl can come and talk freely with out the fear of being judged or criticized.
I know I will not get much legal advice, I am hoping to find support though, and maybe get some perspective. And I was just curious on where others were at in there lives with this? Is it the beginning for you? Are you currently in trial? Have u finished trial? What was the verdict? Where u found guilty or not guilty? Did your charges get dismissed/dropped? Did u serve time? Are u a loved one of someone who is going threw a F.A.? How is it effecting you? Im sure u get the idea, im sure others are curious as well.. Please let me know....

An interesting and thought-provoking question and I've moved it into a more appropriate section. (on the assumption we are generalizing rather than seeking advice over specifics)

Obviously it is for individual members to respond but as an overview I would say that approx 50% of our active members are in the same position as yourself i.e. supporting a partner through the varying processes resulting from the false accusation against them.

Apart from the members who are active posters I suspect there are a great many more who are being helped by the site but, for whatever reason, don't feel able to write about their experiences while they are ongoing (e.g. I was in this category)

As a broad generalization I'd say that 70-80% of members cease to be active once the case they are linked to reaches a conclusion but thankfully the others do remain as active members and support those who are newly arrived which is how a good forum should work

Being that I am 1) in a different country and 2) still in the early stages of the F.A. im not sure I feel confident in giving advice right now but support I try and do. I also plan on staying and offering support and maybe even advice after our case is over as I feel the responsibility of returning the favor of help/support that I have received. Also, I have noticed at least one other post from a lady who lives in California. It was an older post and I am sure she is no longer here, but if I found my way here as well, then maybe another American will later down the road. If that happens, I will be here to help as I know its hard for U.K members to offer any legal advice.
Do u mind sharing where u are at in ur F.A. CH?

It would be great to have you on board as the USA 'specialist' as we know little about your legal system and Americans do find their way to the forum from time to time.

My case was NFA'd over 4 years ago; but the arrest date and NFA date do become significant anniversaries

THATS AWESOME NEWS!!! Also, was wondering, is it true that the stress from the aftermath, even if NFA or not guilty verdict, really can be almost just as bad as what u feel during the process?
With what I have been reading, I am scared that my bf will become so scared, worried, stressed, ext. after this is finally over, that it may take a bad toll on our relationship. We have already been threw so much together, and I love him with everything I am, and I could never picture myself without him. But, I have read some stories where couples have split up due to the stress of the whole situation and the way ppl can change after being F.A'ed
That is one of my biggest fears. I CANT LOSE HIM! Not after all this too

I am far from a specialist just yet, lol, but I am sure I will know more than I do now, by the time another America finds their way here.
But it does seem that our legal systems are just as corrupt as the others

                Hi there

I am sorry to hear what you are going through.

I am currently on bail, I have been now for about 4 months. Luckily, our system allowed me to carry on with day to day life whilst the investigation happens.

Everyday I think about the future, your half living... It's very exhausting...

Your wondering if your going to be charged and what are people going to think of you..

i was 10-11 to 15-16 during my accusation..I'm 30 now.. People will judge me now and not that of a child..

will i lose my house, my job...

What's prison like... How will I cope...

What do I do when I get out, I won't be able to get a job...

I'm lucky that I have an amazing wife.. And she has been a rock.

These are the things I think about.. Oh lastly what's going to happen to my cats?!

                Hehe love my cats...

As I said I haven't been charged yet and touch wood I won't... But this is 4 months of my life full of stress...

I know everyone who goes through this will be thinking the same.. And I share sympathy with them..

Innocent till proven guilty my good people... Innocent till proven guilty..
