  • Falsely Accused and case dropped - Social Services still treat me as guilty

Hi, a couple of years ago I was falsely accused of a sexual attack and rape of a 17yr old male, (who was employed by us on a training programe, via a youth offending team), within my home, who, following the supposed assault stayed within our home for a further 2 days, came with my wife and I to look at a new home and also learnt that we intended to close the business at the same time. On the third day I was arrested and then removed from my family home by social services, with no access to my business - which was apparently too close to home, but more worse, to my family initially.

On arrest, items of clothing, bedding - quilts and covers, the business and personal computers systems were seized as evidence and our home and business premsies searched. An accusation of pornographic pictures on computers had also been made.

Following interviews of my family I was allowed to visit for about an hour over a couple of days a week, but there had to be an adult present at all times. Christmas and birthdays were hell and I was basically homeless and ended up having to rent a house as the investigations, especially the forensics were taking a very long time. In all it was nearly nine months before things came to an end and the police said that no evidence of the accusations made could be found by the fornesics or their investigations and that the case would go no further.

Since this time, the accuser has been in touch trying to be friends on facebook, has sent jokes by text and has told others "see what I did to them! It was all a lie". He has also tried to arrange a meeting via our church to talk about what he had done"

I dont know why the accusation was made, but it has had a devastating effect on all of our lives and I still wake up every day and ask myself "Why"?

Although the police case is all over, Social Services, who treat me as Guilty until I could prove myself innocent, still treat me as guilty and apparently my name is now marked as having had an unproven case against a minor and therefore will leave us unable to adopt, foster or care for others.

What can be done? This is very unfair.

SS work on the probability of guilt - not whether you've actually done anything. I would see a family law solicitor who has experience in helping with false allegations.

i know how you feel with SS, they treat me a similar way. they came around to see me and started asking questions.....i cant remember what as i was pretty messed up at the time, but the questions they were asking me seemed like they had me down as guilty from the off. they mentioned the sex offenders register and how i felt about my name being on it etc etc.
i cant offer any advice on what you could do in your case as i wouldnt know where to begin. i would deffo do whats already been suggested, i.e speak to a solicitor
